RM Racing CAI = Check Engine Light...
I installed the RM Racing Cold Air option Intake this weekend. The first two runs down the block were fine, but later in the day the car's Check Engine light came on, and now it's on all the time. I posted pictures of all the installed parts and hose connections http://www.wesmaster.com/S2K/images/CAIntake.htm so that maybe someone can see where I messed up.
The solenoid is making a hissing noise, and I'm assuimg that's the root of the problem. If I pinch the top hose going to the solenoid the noise stops. I've emailed RM Racing and I plan on dropping the car in at the Honda Dealership for a look over tomorrow morning...but I thought I'd exhaust my resources to get this fixed.
Any ideas are appreciated.

I noticed that little white thing in the pictures too, but I assumed that was on older version of the hose, possibly being two short hoses together with a connector, instead of one long hose. I don't remember seeing anything like that on the factory hose, but I'm going to double check.
P.S. RM Racing replied to my email and forwarded my information on to their product designer...he's supposed to contact me.

You need that valve.
I too have an intake, and had a check engine light on for about 2 weeks straight. We went crazy trying to figure it out. From taking all the hoses out and re-running them, to actually putting the stock intake back in. In my case, a little vacuum line came loose and it was out of sight, so that was causing the check engine light. But, if the valve is in the wrong direction(it is a one way relief valve) or its not there at all, check engine will come on.
Look at Rick's picture. The valve is supposed to be in the same direction as in his picture. Let me know if I can help any more. Like I said, I had the saem problem and it had to do with the hoses and the valve.

Got back form the dealership, one of the things he mentioned is that it might need a valve. I thought that was interesting considering the above post. They said it would be OK to drive the car for now, and I'm waiting to hear from RM Racing. Why wouldn't the valve have been included?

RM Racing contacted me, turns out that valve comes off of the original hose and you have to splice the one they gave you. The guy acted like I should have known this, and even disagreed with me, the customer, when I said it wasn't explained in the instructions (which are 10 one sentence line items). It wasn't explained, it was implied that you knew something about intakes and car engines and putting on mods; but there's always someone's first install. I'll be happy with the product once I get the valve on.

I'm not sure about slicing any valves, but the solonoid needs to be re-installed. You have it pointing in the wrong direction.
If you notice the OEM installation, the valve points up, not at an angle like your install. The two hoses that go into the solonoid attach from the bottom on my install. You need to remove the solonoid braket that I can see in your picture (THIS WAS NOT IN THE RM INSTRUCTIONS I HAVE) and attach the solonoid as upright as possible.
I have been running the RM CAI for nine months and have not seen the check engine light yet.
Send me an e-mail if you have any questions - I am not at this site every day.

Wesmaster,
Sorry for the confusion from my last post, but I am not sure from which direction the hoses get to the solonoid (top or bottom). I don't have access to my S2K right now so I can't check.
THE KEY ISSUE IS TO ORIENT THE VALVE IN THE SAME DIRECTION IT WAS ORIGINALLY. I removed the small bracket that is attached to the valve and shown in your picture. This will allow you to attach the valve with the same orientation as the stock install.

I wasn't very clear. I meant split the hose, not the valve. I noticed that one install on the web had the solenoid plug facing up (might be you) but the directions specifically say "solenoid outlets facing down", and in all of the pictures on the RM Racing site you can't see the solenoid plug peaking out from behind the intake like I saw on that one install. I thik once I get the valve in things will be fine.
