Default Road Trip 2,745 Miles

Having read several debates on this forum regarding the S2K on long road trips, I offer my observations from a recent 8 day trip from Colorado through Wyoming (Yellowstone NP), Montana (Glacier NP) and Canada (Waterton Lakes). This car makes a great and very comfortable GT cruiser on the road sprinkled with numerous sports car stints on the winding mountain passes. Fun factor of 10 ! Other observations:

Overall gas mileage 30.1 mpg.
Crossed Continental Divide about 10 times, passes from 9,000 to 11,000 feet.
Highway speeds generally from 75 to 80 with sprints to pass over 95 mph.
VTEC many times to pass 18 wheelers and RV's.
Top down all the way except on the interstates with 18 wheelers doing 80 mph.
Earplugs worked great at the higher speeds, turned CD's up higher, no distortion.
Only casualties were numerous suicidal bugs.
Not one drop of oil consumed on the entire trip.

So if someone is debating taking a long trip, my vote is to Go For It. These cars were made to drive. Keep the family sedan or SUV in the garage. You won't regret it.

We did an 1800 mile trip from Chicago to Maine, then down to Cape Cod, and back to Chicago in August. It was great--we averaged 30mpg as well, which I was pleasantly surprised by.

I happend to meet a biggest blizzard of 2005 when i was comming back from 2000 mile road trip. My S ran like champ (did around 20mph for about 4 hrs) through blizzard with stock tire without any problem.

Oh, you always have to put top down, regardless of temperature on roadtrip.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love this car and love driving it... but I wouldn't call it a GT cruiser. And I have taken the car on a roadtrip... from Virginia to South Dakota and back.

The cabin is obviously very tight, (I'm small though, 5' 9" and 140 lbs) and I tend to get cramped up, and my legs get tired on long drives. I love the way the interior wraps around you in this car, but it does get uncomfortable after awhile, since you have virtually no room to move about or stretch.

The seats are pretty good, (almost identical to the seats in my old Dodge SRT-4) but any drive over two hours and my back starts to feel a little sore and kinked up, and I'm only 18 years old!

The road noise and buzz from the engine does get to you after awhile too, especially at interstate speeds, even more so with the top up. And it doesn't help that the stock stereo is lousy.

Just a few minor complaints about a GREAT car. Even though I complain about these things... I just deal with it. You can't stop me from driving this car!
