"Bundle up" you say from your winter home in Santa Barbara

Hopefully I plan my trips better then Donner because I hate the cold, somewhere around the high-30's even the top comes up in the S.
My wife and I did a 8500 mile trip last year - no problems. The only concern was when we were coming back across the Cascades and had a cold rain. Had the original summer tires. If you have the time for a trip off of the Interstates you might want to check out this: http://www.roadtripusa.com/routes.html
well maybe it was just no fun for me because i was running on 3 hours of sleep, and being up over 24 hours. and it was cold and night time. it wasnt to bad driving, but its almost imposible to sleep in the passenger seat.
On New Years I drove from the St. Augustine area to Richmondish.
<3hrs to Exit 8 on 95N in S. Carolina, realized I had a flat, but thought my gauge was broken because it said there was NO air in my tires (but they were still holding up the car). I realized the gauge was right, reinflated my tire and called AAA. Talked to a dumb bitch that couldn't help, I was on hold for 20min before she hung up on me. I called back and this other guy found me a place open on a holiday that could repair but not replace my tire, gave me slightly ambiguous directions that upon calling the walmart got me sent 30mi in the wrong direction, finally got to the walmart and was told there wasn't anything they could do because my "special low profile tires were more pain than they were worth" from the Korean war vet (much respect for his service, especially there) too fat to walk and in a power chair. Then a younger guy came out, looked at it, pulled the screw out and told me he had me covered. 1hr and $9.50 later it was ready. However that was when I realized that my tires were 100% bald in the middle (meaning over inflated) after they were at 5/32 a week earlier after my 30k service, I check the pressure (42psi!!!!) meaning my Honda dealer ****ed up my tires. I then, upon releasing 10psi from my tires, got back on the road at 4:30pm and got home at 11:30. Never burnt any oil, and I got 30mpg at a normal speed of 85mph w/o A/C only pumping Shell V-power. I averaged 60mph not including tire fiasco with stops included.
AAA or a friend in a truck with a spare set of wheels would be best, and make sure it's not on a holiday.
That and Southerners really don't understand the concept of cruising in the right, passing in the left, nor do they understand SLOWER TRAFFIC KEEP RIGHT!!!!
It can handle a long ride, but your legs/knees will surely cramp up.
