Road Trip advice?
We will be taking our new MY04 to Texas this coming weekend, approx. 900 miles one way. Can anyone who has taken the S2000 on a road trip
give me any advice on do's , don'ts and gotchas?
Thanks

I've gone on a few road trips with my S2000, but no real specific advice here. It's pretty much like taking any other car on a road trip. The only thing I noticed was that at around 80 MPH cruising speed, the droning of the engine can get a little annoying after a few hours. My car is a '02, so it's at about 4.5k RPMs at 80 MPH. Not sure how that works out on a '04. Same with bumpy roads - those can get a little irritating after a few hours. Aside from that, maybe just bring a pillow for your passenger. Trying to sleep or resting your head isn't too comfortable without one.

I just got back from an 800 mile roadtrip today. I also have an '04 and didn't mind it at all...whenever I would get bored I'd just take it through the gears. I just kept the stereo on at about 15 so I didn't really notice the engine droning to much...but I was by myself so I don't know how conversation would be at that level. thats all the advice i got, if you can call it that.

Depending on your speed, you might be stopping for fuel more often than with other cars. On long distances, I cruise between 150-220kmh and never listen to the radio; the engine note is fun enough! Don't try to pull off a conversation above 240kmh though, even with the roof up.
Due to the rake of the windshield, you might be picking up more bugs that obscure your vision, so clean it off frequently. I also adjust the seat several times during the trip to stay comfortable. Buy drinks with closeable tops as cans don't fit too well in the cupholder and interfere with shifting. Bring along a plastic bag to keep trash in.

Go out to the car, open the trunk, reach down and pull out the tool tray, pull all the tools out of the tray, wrap them up in an old pair of jeans, pull the spare tire out half way, cram the tool/jean wrap into the wheel of the spare tire, push the spare tire back into position, tighten the bolt that holds it secure, and throw that damn tool tray away. There, now your trunk is bigger and you still have all your tools...

Yeah, I took a long road trip (7 hours) with the top down the whole way. Forgot to put suntan lotion on and showed up at a wedding looking ridiculous.
Oh, bring a visor or a hat too.
Take back roads with scenic routes, pack in soft cases, and make sure you have time. The car is a blast when you can stop frequently and enjoy the trip and not just the destination, if you're on a tight schedule, consider a different car. All freeway driving can get boring and can drone. This car was made for twisties, and no better place for twisties than the back road scenic by-ways. Have a camera and be ready to stop anywhere that tickles your fancy.
