Default The Rolling "S"

After coming home from work today.
I do my daily routines after work, look out the window & DAMN!
My car is across the street at the end of neighbors driveway, facing my window.
I couldn't believe my eyes. My car rolled backwards all the way down my driveway & cross the street, about twenty yards from where I parked it. Practically sitting in the middle of the street.

Luckily no damage was done.

WOW... consider yourself EXTREMELY lucky ALWAYS be sure to put your car in gear when you park it. Never put 100% faith in the e-brake, cause there have been other members on this board who haven't been as fortunate as you have

Yes keep it in gear. I set my parking brake after backing out of my garage a month ago and jumped out to close the garage door and the car started to roll backwards. I caught it before it rolled into the street. Now if I'm going to only be out of the car a few seconds I don't shut the engine off and put it in gear but I do give the parking brake a good yank to make sure the car won't roll down the driveway. Otherwise I keep it in gear when parked.

Luckily no damage was done.
Honda's reputation was damaged.

Keep it in gear while parked
With your "clutch-in-to-start" feature you won't jump forward starting it.

Whenever my car is on a hill I park in gear. If it's pointing uphill I put it in 2nd. If it's pointing down I put it in reverse. Don't know if it makes a difference, but I just put it in a gear that moves opposite to the way the car would roll if it started/

I don't believe the direction of the gear has any bearing on "holdability."

Its my understanding that R has the best hold power, followed by 1st. Some cars like Saabs won't even let you take the key out unless it's in reverse.
