Default RPM - Car Jerk

I bought my 07 with 60k miles a month ago and I have some questions that I hope can be answered on here. Things I've done myself since I've gotten the car: transmission/differential fluid change, replaced air filter with K&N, replaced cabin filter, replaced knob with moddiction anvil 2 knob, changed clutch fluid (didn't bleed, only drained and refilled about 4 times with lots of clutch pumps in between).

1st: My car jerks more often then not if I shift under 3k rpm...not sure if user error or if this is a problem.
2nd: When shifting from 4th to 5th, I have to shift really fast or else the rpm drops to like 1k and then back to 3k once the accelerator is engaged...is this normal?
3rd: I hear a small whistling/shhhhhh noise while cruising sometimes coming from the engine, not sure if this is normal.

Anything I need to change as well would be greatly appreciated since I'm not sure if I'm missing something.

Thanks in advance!

Well you shouldn't be shifting under 3k rpms in the first place. It's best to shift at 4-5k in this car. Problem #2 might be driver error, don't shift from 4th to 5th so that you are doing 3k in 5th. That's too early. Also you might be shifting too slow.

Not sure about #3

Welcome to the forums!

you're shifting too soon, rev that puppy up to 4,500 before shifts. It's not a mustang...it's a honda.

...and bleed the clutch, what you did really didn't do anything.

Not sure if this is right but this is from my own experience...

Problem 1 might be from taking off on a bumpy surface? Mine was a bit jerky from my foot shaking a bit as a result of the car going over the railway tracks, thus my foot was kinda on and off the throttle at low speeds causing it to jerk.

with problem 2. Does it stay at 1k rpm after you shift and release the clutch then suddenly go to 3k rpm when you begin to accelerate?

Not sure about 3 either but the only times I hear a shhhhhhhh sound is when I'm driving with out the latches locked in place or the minor 1/2 inch tear I have in my soft top when driving at high speeds, say 100km/h (62mph ish)

I don't mind shifting later, I was just curious about preserving gas as this is a daily driver. I will check out 4th to 5th gear and will do an actual bleed this weekend. Any other fluids I should change out or things I should do? Other than that, I'm having a blast driving the car.

When's the oil been changed last? I would do a [gravity] brake bleed with ATE Type 200 as well

Maybe whistling is from your intake?

All your other problems seem pretty well addressed by other members. Is it your first manual? 4-5 was always awkward for me starting out, so i couldn't help but shift a bit more deliberately (read: slowly) when starting out. It let the revs drop a bit.

And quit shifting so early! As someone else said, this isn't a muscle car. I get around 28mpg shifting around 4500, plus having a bit of fun here and there.

If revs are dropping because your foot is completely off the gas and you shift slowly why not keep the revs up to the next gears rpm with a little gas. Isn't that what the new rev matching trannies do?

I always thought "shifting earlier" would save gas, but here's the rundown; The engine needs to rev higher to get it to start rolling easier. Imagine you're riding a bicycle, going up a slight hill. You'd have to be crazy to start shifting up making yourself work harder when you could use a lower gear. Now back to the car, it's the same concept. Using a lower gear with higher RPM's will actually be less stressful for the engine apposed to staying in the lower RPMs.

First stick or not , the s2000 works and plays at least 1000rpm higher than most other MT vehicles and that takes getting used too.

My LT1 Vette pulled from 2000rpm but was finished by 5500.

I think that your best fuel efficiency will come at the lower end of the powerband,3-3.5k in the s2000 and 1k less for others
