Running it out of gas
You get better gas mileage when the tank is empty.... a full tank of gas weighs a lot! Not that I run mine to empty all the time, but it doesn't hurt to go a bit past the light coming on.
My friend ran out of gas w/ his ITR motor on the track (idiot!). He wasn't paying attention.
The cost: looking like an ass AND BLOWING HIS HEADGASKET as his car leaned out.
The lesson: Don't run your car hard if you are low on gas (gas light on).
I've also noticed the S2000 gas light SUCKS and can go from 3 bars to 1 bar really fast...

Anybody?
BTW I almost never fill up until all the lights are out and I have run out of gas in the S, and YES it's a pain to get it cranked again. As a matter of fact, I'm sure I've run out of gas in every vehicle I've owned. I had one car I could reliably run down to less than 1/2 a gallon every time.
The lawnmower gas, was regular unleaded you get from a gas station? The reason I ask is because not all gasoline is unleaded. For example, aviation gasoline is often 100 octane, and leaded. Leaded gas will ruin your catalytic converter, making it difficult (and expensive, due to repair costs) to pass your next state inspection. It'll also mean you're polluting the air. Thus if you aren't 100% sure the gas you put in it to get to the gas station was from an unleaded source, you might want to get your catalytic converter checked.
running your car low on gas is hard on your fuel pump... as the fuel level gets low the fuel sloshes from side to side in your tank and momentarily runs the pump dry... the pump is lubricated by the fuel and its like running a motor with no oil... it only takes a moment for something to go wrong... so running to the car starts spuddering may not be the best idea... just an FYI....and as for an external pump the principal is the same...

It seems, with the exception of Ace living in NoVa (do they even have telephones out there?)
[J/K], that we all are around gas stations. From past experience, we all want to see how much we can get per tank. What I've found is that when that wonderful orange light comes on, my bitch-ass is wondering when the next station is.
I know I've got around 40-50 extra miles once my light comes on, but I'm still squirming like a little beeitch. Fill up your tank when it's convenient, or suffer the consequences.

yea, we got your stinking gas stations out here, we can even get 93 octane at nearly every corner of every street
.
my run-to-empty was a long time ago, when i lived up north, where it was cold, i was a kid, and didn't enjoy sitting on frozen vinyl truck seats.
my average fill on my S is in the mid to high 10 gallon range. plen-t to spare. as compared to my family's suvs, where the average fill is 22-23 gallons after 250 miles!!

Your fuel pump is also cooled by being immersed in fuel, so every time you run under about
