Default Is the S windshield thinner than typical?

So did they make the windshield thinner to save weight? I've noticed that it chips a lot easier from salt and rocks than other cars I've driven. Now maybe it's cause I care a lot more about it, but something seems off....

Thoughts?

no it has to do with the angle of the windshield. it's angle causes it to take more of a beating from rocks/salt etc, rather than a windshield that is more angled and can better deflect debris.

Tell me about it - I had a huge freakin' rock bounce off the windshield this morning, left a few scuff marks.

Right, it is a combination of the aerodynamics of the car's front end combined with a more upright windshield .

I don't know. I've noticed that my windshield gets chipped up alot easier in the S than the other cars I've owned with similar angles. Maybe the glass they use is just softer or something. Maybe some sort of new safety thing with soft glass as a side effect.

Windshields only cost $300 installed around here (PPG). You are stupid if you use your insurance.

mine is cracked on the passenger edge from a rock kicked up by an 18 wheeler. it doesn't obstruct my view so i've put off shelling out money for a new windshield. sooner or later it'll have to be done tho and that is not fun.

We had this discussion years ago when the car first came out. In fact, I had to replace mine at 700 miles due to stone chips. At the time I spoke with numerous glass installers and 100% said there was nothing unique with Honda windshield glass. Also, everyone of then recommended OEM windshield's over after market because of the better adherence to tolerances, etc. That's not say aftermarket are bad but clearly some brands are riskier than others for deformities, etc. After markets are clearly cheaper. I have no detectible windshield breakage - its like $20 a year and well worth it, especially with this car.
