Default s02 tread wear

Just wondering how much life everyone is seeing in their rear S02s? I am at 8K miles and they are getting worn down pretty far.

Thanks

I am at 9500mi with 5 or 6 track days, and I should have gotten new tires all around a few hundred miles ago. They were iffy at 9000 and went away quickly after that.

Just put on new rears (OEM) at 20,000k. One track day, only a couple of short burn outs, 90% of the rest of the miles is highway. I've seen others get 20K also.

Wow! That's pretty good mileage out of the tires . I'm in the same boat.

My car has 22,000 miles but I've got 16,000 miles on the rear tires due to 2 punctures early in the car's life. Yesterday, I took a look at them after Fall Colors and looks like they are beginning to wear out. I did numerous S2K events, 1 autocross, and no track events. My VA state inspection is up in March, so I think I'll replace the tires then (will probably have 20,000 miles on them by spring).

The fronts are OEM with 22,000 miles. Still have a bit of tread left
here.

Lately, I've kept the F/R pressures at 33/33.

I'll just repeat what I said in that other thread:

I can't make any sense out of reported tread life for the stock tires.

I've seen several posts of people needing new tires at 4000 miles, but I've got 16000 miles on mine, including 3 track days. It's true that I've only dropped the clutch a couple of times, but I don't exactly baby my car: I practically live in VTEC, and I get around 18-19 MPG.

By the way, my fronts and rears are about evenly worn, but the right sides of all four tires show signs of melting (SIR is counter-clockwise!) I keep 'em at 34 PSI rear, 36 PSI front, cold.

Can anyone explain all this?

Ted

I replaced my rears every 6000 miles with OEM rears. I have since upgraded my wheels and tires and am using the BF Goodrich KD's which are IMO better than the stock in just about every way, especially in the wet. I don't know if it's because they are bigger (265 35 18's) but I have about 6000 miles on them and they don't appear to be wearing nearly as fast as the S02's.

Rears at 24,000
Fronts at 24,000

Think I'll buy some stock in Bridgestone!
