Smile S2000 = Haters? Tell your stories...

So I have only had my S now for a week and Im getting buried in Hate. I keep to myself, I don't drive too rice. And its a 100% stock car. There have been 2 instances:

I live on Base in the dorms, and I have now had 2 people TODAY park 1-2" from my drivers door making it 100% impossible to get into my car. Not to mention they are about 2ft OVER the parking line into my spot and there are 2-3 open spots on the opposite side of them. I have never met these people.

and secondly, I rode down to KC today to get off base and had not one, but 2 mustang owners blatantly yell out suggestive comments at me. Once while I was parked in the back of a parking lot taking pictures of the car, and the second while I was stopped at a light and they drove around me headed the opposite direction.

Is this common? Should I just Re-Sell the S? I'm a nice guy, I don't mess with people, and help out anyone I can. I REALLY don't like putting up with this Blatant Dis-respect.

Anyway, Your stories?

Where do you live? Usually, military folks don't really care for the S just because most of them are "american muscle" kind of guys. Dont worry about it, get your friends who hate on it to take a ride. They'll understand what you like about it (:.

It's unusual to get bad attention for the car, but every now and then there's a prick. My car actually got keyed recently at a gated federal facility. It happens, hopefully it doesn't get worse.

I've also been thinking about reselling, but it's way too enjoyable to be without. Hopefully these incidents don't steer you away from owning this car.

FYI Mustang guys will always be D-bags.. I think a small penis is mandatory to drive that car.. I feel bad for them

As for those people parking an inch from your doors.. theres a difference between hating & being a complete asshole. Id wait them to come back to their cars and have a few words on parking lot manners. Or have their cars towed.

Dont let a few morons ruin the car for you.. deep down they all wish they drove one.

As for the Parking Douchbag I just bit the bullet and moved the car with the drivers door to a curb so they cant block me again. Im on base so getting there car towed would involve calling security forces, finding the owner and waking them up. That would just lead to more trouble in the future. I dont want to wake up with a hole in my top ya know...

As for waiting on them, It was 1AM... I want sleep lol.

Im Living in Missouri now, I have gotten compliments also, but Assholes are pissing me off.

Most of the 'hate' I've experienced during my ownership is born from envy. One guy I used to work with gave me endless crap about buying a 'chicks car'. He drove a purple Focus (haha!). I challenged him to a time trial, but he ended up selling the car before we could settle the bet. I don't think he would have shown up anyways.

Other folks who have looked at the car with skepticsm are quickly converted after a short spin. In the Northeast the S2000 still isn't an every-day car and I've found that even some 'car guys' aren't really familiar with it's capabilities.

Within my group of friends we have a fairly comprehensive spectrum of performance (and non-) vehicles, including DB9, F430, M6/5/3, RS8, my S2000, STi, down through various sport-wannabe econoboxs and a menage of motorcycles. I find that the guys who own legit sport and supercars have respect for the S2000, particularly given it's performance/price ratio. The guys who can't afford to change their oil on schedule are usually the ones giving grief about how un-cool the S is compared to (insert any other car here).

I've traded turns at the wheel of my S in exchange for most of the vehicles above. The guy driving a Mazda 3 can't say the same.

Forget the haters. I could have bought a number of more 'prestigous' vehicles than my (now) 6 year old S, but I don't regret for one minute that I didn't. I figure once I can drive better than the car, I'm allowed to upgrade.

I would have waited for those d-bags who parked ontop of you to come back out to their car and asked them what the heck their deal was, or ran a key down the side of their car IMO they had it comming.

I really don't get to much hate, minus a couple of "fun loving" revs out of some muscle cars (usually going the oposite direction). Honestly, I would not put up with blatant disrespect, I would put someone in their place pretty quick.

I actually have had mosly positive experiences witht the S. On te contrary to what most people experience with mustang owners, most of the ones I've encountered have been pretty cool. The douchcanoes are usually fellow Honda owners...

My first hater was my dad when I told him I wanted the S."Why don't u get something more practical? That much cash for a peaky 4 banger with no torque? Why don't u get a G35?". All these comments were before he drove it. He redlined 2nd thru 4th on the highway and he looked at me and said.. "Now I know why u wanted this car so bad!" he loves the S now.

Another hater was a kid in a Lexus SC300 who kept revving his engine at a light. He looks at me and says "how slow are those?" I said "I'll show u on green" and proceeded to put a buslength or three on him..
