Default S2000 1/2 Mile Racing

First and foremost let me preface this by saying I totally understand there are more S2000's out there than I care to think about that are faster than mine.

I finally got to participate in my first organized race event with my turbo S2000 this past weekend.

WannaGoFast hosted a 1/2 mile race about an hour from our shop and I decided I wanted to see what the little S had. Saturday I ran on my standard drag radial setup (275/40/17 Mickey Thompson drag radials) and managed to click off a run of 164.9mph on my first run. I had the boost set at 17psi max, and turned it up to my normal 20psi map for the rest of the weekend. Long story short, the car was scary f@#king unstable up top. The wide tires and 9 inch wide wheels did not like the 150mph+ area.

OMG I almost died

I swapped a set of 18x9.5 wide wheels with some 245/40/18 tires on for Sunday's races and the car was way way more stable. I managed to click off both a 171.8mph run and a 170mph run back to back! So I would like to know, do I technically have the 1/2 mile world record for our platform on this pass?

171.8 run

Nice trap! I need to make my way out next year. I had a customer/friend car running his '95 Taurus SHO this year to see what he would do before adding a large turbo for next year. Looked like a fun event... Fun enough that I might bring my STi out to see what it can do next year.

Definitely fun. I need to look into a better front brake option for these speeds though.
