Is this just the standard response that is given whenever someone asks if they should get an S2k?
What is it with you guys?
How is he going to "learn how to drive" on a Civic, any better than he would on an S2k or a bimmer? That's such a weak response...
And, BTW... Where did he mention that he didn't know how to drive?

rude its obvious that he is going to have a difficult time convincing his parents. I am not going to tell this KID S2000 is great... its so fun to drive and reliable so tell your mommy and daddy to buy yourself an S.
Is S2000 a smart choice for a college student? Maybe...
Not for a 19 year old who is trying to "be the cool pre med guy wit an s2k"
IF he wants a reliable car, he should get a civic and give the rest of money to his parents. neither BMW or S2000 is a good choice in terms of maintenance. Get yourself an affordable car and study your ass off to buy a nice car with your own money. Get a ferrari for i
care.
If more space is more important than every other relevant factor = 325
If you want a faster, better looking car then S2000
IMO 325 looks like crap. Plus I dont like being the "DX" models of car lines.

being a college student, I would not get either of those cars to drive anywhere near campus. the average college student can't drive for shit. The S2k will probably get keyed, or the top cut by some jacka**. by yourself a accord (if you want space) or a civic for reliable transportation. but, that's just my opinion.
GET AN S2000, DO WHAT YOU WANT A DISREGARD ALL THE NEGATIVE COMMENTS THAT HAVE BEEN SAID. IM 22 IN COLLEGE AND WORK FULL-TIME AND I GOT AN S2000. I DROVE IT FOR THE FIRST YR OF COLLEGE AND LOVED IT.. NOW ITS MY WEEKEND / MAINLY GONNA BE MY TRACK CAR. I GOT A BEATER, BUT I STILL DO LOVE TO DRIVE THE S2K
ANYWHO I WOULD SUGGEST AS SOME HAVE SAID TO NOT GET THE BMW, AND IF YOUR PARENTS ARE GONNA MAKE YOU GO THAT ROUTE THEN LOOK INTO THE ACURA TSX.
LET US KNOW IT PANS OUT

Lots of exotic, luxury cars at my son's college too. The s2000 will stand out more and is fun to drive, but you can't take many friends with you. I've heard BMW's are no longer reliable. If you want reliable, get a Honda and if you want more luxury get an Acura.
PS He has my old Accord 2dr coupe, and is very satisfied.

Which car to buy is a pretty personal decision. Really, only you can decide. Test driving both cars should give you a pretty clear idea of which one you like better since they're rather different.
S2000 is a terrible car for college. The lack of storage space, a back seat, and hardtop make it terribly inconvenient. No matter where you go to school, you'll value the back seat for picking up friends, the trunk space for picking up cases of beer, and the fixed roof for security.
Go with the BMW.
Also, girls in college don't give a shit if it's an S2000, its still a Honda. A BMW will pull more tail vs. a Honda, regardless the model.
