S2000 as 911 or even miata
the 911 when introduced was a pure sports car. when the miata was introduced it was pure sports car....our car is just that. i wonder if honda is thinking....we shall make our own 911 or miata, evolving it, but keeping it much the same as it was when new, a pure sports car, changing the shape some but keeping it recognizable over time. it will evolve and it has.
more like the 911 it will be hand assembled and limited in production. like the miata it will continue to be a 4 cyl roadster. just a thought as to why they continue to sell this as a honda rather than an acura and do not advertise or promote it much...but continue tomake it in small amounts.

911 isn't limited production. I think they make like 30K+ a year.
Cars like the F430 are limited production and you have to wait several years to get one.
Aston Martins are limited production, the AM V8 will make maybe 3000/year
I don't think Honda is going in the right direction with the S2000. Every other year they make it more livable. Soon they'll have AT (just like 911s and Boxsters and Miatas have ATs).
It's hard to say what's better to end the car completely (like the RX-7 or Supra) and have a cult following. Or keep it around and make it better or worse over the years. Just hope it doesn't go the way of the early Z cars or Supras that morphed into gold-chain cruisers

I personally hope that Honda put an end to the s2000's so that they will be rare and up in value over the years. I don't want to see s2000's all over the place a rather it be exclusive.
I would hate to see some of the ricers around here eventually be able to afford the S2000. They do not deserve to drive a car with such superb engineering.

I kind of agree.

That's also assuming with money comes taste. But obviously we've seen some riced out right after leaving the dealership.

Who cares? I didn't buy this car for anyone else but myself. Someone wants to rice out a car, their call. I just like to drive this car - it is the next step past the roadster I loved, my '71 MGB. Great things about cars, they can be something different for everyone, and just like the 'B, this car isn't for everyone. But - if someone can get it and enjoy - more power to'em. If I wanted a status symbol - I'd have gotten a Porsche...and lost the fun...
