Default s2000 alarm. Does it help?

Im thinking of getting a 2-way alarm after my s2000 got its top slashed. Does it really do anything? Can thieves disable the alarm and get the job done?
A hardtop is on the way but now im afraid someone will just break a window and steal my hardtop.

Reasons I got one:
Peace of mind, keeps "opportunity" thieves away, keeps some people from just messing with the car, can be set to go off when being towed or put on a flatbed, notifies you when the alarm is going off or just warning, can be set to go off if people put their hands in your car with the top down, it adds another hurdle for a would be thief, you can lock your car from a mile away, cool window sticker and remote

I recently had installed a Python 991 two-way and I am happy with it. Nothing is perfect.

I got a proximity sensor on mine. You may want to consider that option so the car will start making noise before the knife goes into the top.

Piece of mind, as stated above.
No alarm can prevent all theft, especially the professionals. but a good alarm wil help with the amateurs and oportunists.

I highly recommend you get a 2 way model.

Can't hurt. Mine came with it already installed. Proximity, 2 way alarm, and hard top.

Just got a 2 way alarm a few days ago. Though it gives you peace of mind, it's pointless when you're out of range. Thought I would be straight with 1 mile range but with all the interference, its nowhere close to a mile. Now I'm debating if I should add Drone mobile so I can get alerts on my iPhone.

As long as it gives the vandal another hurdle to overcome, Im all for it. Just having that flashing light alone (easily visible during the evening) is enough to scare petty thieves.

piece of mind, but I'm still scared as heck. Someone can still drive by, slash your top, do something and take off. My clifford has about a 2-3 second delay, and the first offense just pages you. It doesn't really go off, unless it's persistent. Either way, it was worth the money to me for piece of mind. I mean, if I'm sleeping, or in the movie theater, and it goes off. There's not a whole lot you can do.

I would go with a GPS setup, since thieves are using flatbeds to take S2000s. It's what happened to my neighbor, and her pristine S2000 was stripped, and totaled.
