hey guys i got some of the black chrome emblems for my S2000 im getting here in about 2weeks...just wanted to know if anyone has had any trouble putting these on.
For those that want to take this on as a fun project, there is black pearl paint you can buy to do this to your CURRENT emblems. I've already done it on another vehicle and it came out great.

Tools & Supplies
Heat Gun (or blow dryer)
2"-3" Plastic Putty Knife
Waxed Dental Floss (alternate)
Masking Tape
Flat Cardboard Box
Adhesive Remover (3M or Goo Gone)
Old Toothbrush
Dawn Dishwashing Fluid
#0000 Steel Wool
Testors Black Pearl paint (#1813) hobby store
Testors Clear coat (#1814) hobby store
3M Double-sided Emblem tape

The Black Pearl and Clear Coat paint will run about $7.

Installing them is easy, removing the old ones is a PIA.
They look great but if you are installing them on a 2002 or later you can't rely on those instructions for the front emblem, because the old emblem is held on with a reverse slotted washer, not a pinch pin as the instructions say. The washer will only slide onto the post not off the post.

I finally got mine off in 10 small pieces. I put plenty of masking tape on the paint behind the old emblem and had my wife pull the emblem away as I slowly cut and broke pieces away with a hack saw blade (blade only, no handle). I was sweating bullets but it worked.

Good luck!

You should have just reached behind and snipped the pins off level with the retainers with wire cutters. Then the "one-way" retainers pop right off.

had black chromes on front back and sides- but then changed out the front and back to ricks-
sides are still black chromes:

the sides are easy to do as long as you tape off where they are before you remove them (so you know where the new ones go)-

I tried to get back there with some wire cutters but the air deflector was still in place so I couldn't manuever my hand sufficiently into that area. I think with the air deflector out this would be easy.

Ok, I have seen one set of Gold S2000 Badges that some one posted FS. But where they came from is unknown.
I had the gold badges. They came on my used 01 when I bought it. It had gold "H's", which are easy enough to find. But it also had gold "S 2000" badges, which as far as I know, were the only set in the world known to exist. They were pimptacular. And yes, I removed and sold them as quickly as possible.

I put these on yesterday, and lost one of the slotted washers for the front emblem when putting the new one back on. Should I be worried that it will come apart?
It seems like the glue should be enough to hold it on.

My Aunt and Uncle had a weekend business going to dealerships and gold plating chrome emblems. It's not that far of a stretch to say a couple of S2k badges had been done this way.....but damn I HOPE you had the only ones in the world and they have been lost to obscurity!!!

I prefer "naked" myself, but getting the badges off isn't really that hard. Use some dental floss & Goo Gone instead of the aforementioned hacksaw blade. If you really want to be careful just take off the front bumper (a 5-10 min issue) and take off the retainers on the front symbol.
