Default s2000 broken into

Top slashed, seats, steering wheel, stereo, amps and CDs stolen. Trunk and hood popped looking for aftermarket equipment but there isn't any.

It's an 06 with 24k on the odometer. KBB says it is worth $17,750 in good shape for trade in... think they'll total it? I know those seats and steering wheel and top are expensive as hell.

Sorry, this does not happen too often on here.

Please post pics. I would love to see exactly how it was done.

I'm at work and the insurance company is coming to tow today...so no pics. But it's pretty easy to imagine.

They cut a rectangle out of the top directly over the driver-side, as close to the window as possible (actually not a square, they made 3 cuts and the remaining side acted as a hinge). The hole was just big enough to stick your arm in. They apparently reached in and unlocked the door.
I would expect the horn to go off in this situation so maybe they cut the battery line from underneath or the car doesn't have a factory alarm (I never paid attention since this doesn't happen often in the neighborhoods I've lived in).

Once the doors were open, they unbolted the seats and just cut the wiring harnesses off. There were a few trim pieces sitting around from the seats, stereo and steering wheel. Bolts laying around. They also rummaged thru the secret compartment and glove box (if you call it that) and threw stuff all over (thanks guys).

Not sure how the wheel comes off - it was basically a hole in the dash with what looked like some sort of female, metal piece that the wheel slides into...but I didn't look too closely.

Sorry to hear. Could be close on the total. If you had an older model I dont think it would be an issue but a 2006 makes it close

Awful. I hate thieves. Punishment should be like the old days where if you got caught stealing, they cut your fingers off on one hand.

This is what full coverage insurance is for and thank God for it!

Living in the middle of nowhere or having a lockable garage, ftw.
