You were at work when this happened? during the day?
s2000 are very easy to break into... About 3 week ago while at homedepot I accidently locked my keys in the trunk. I was able to open the softtop, unlock the doors, and access the trunk release buttonnn (glove box was locked) all within 2 mins without any damage to anything.
As our cars become cheaper I'm thinking we'll begin to see a lot more s2000 broken into.

Doubtful that itll total, top replacement is under 2000, used set of seats around 1000, steering wheel another 500-1000 depending how they buy it, estimate would have to go over 10000 for them to even begin thinking abotu it. Good luck man! it's why our premiums are so high. Seriously, they dont even need to cut the top, you just need to lift it up, the side has a nice size area to stick ur arm through (watch the next time u lower your top), just realized this cuz my weatherstrip there came loose and realized wow, I could stick my hand out there easily.

Just had a rash of seat thefts in pacific northwest. My seats were stolen, and window was broken. Insurance paid out $8300. Your estimate should be A LOT higher.
A new aftermarket top is about 600 bucks, labor is 800-1000 from an upholstery shop (dealerships just charge you book time at their rate, and then sublet it out to an upholstery shop).
If you hint that you're going to be a pain in the ass and that you're car will never be teh same, the adjuster just might write it all for new oem parts to total the car.
