It is entirely possible that this car did not have any driver's airbag at all. Apparantly, the car is a '99 model hardtop that has only 3900 miles on it - all track driven. So, it was probably removed when it was race-prepped.
This guy was running in T1. Apparently, the guy who won the T1 series was running a 911. The guy in the C5 could never beat the 911, but he managed quite a few second places.
I agree that the Honda was very cleanly driven. Even though the C5 was making ground on the straights, there didn't look to be any chance of it passing the S2000 anytime soon!
I used to think that it was the C5 that had the planted rear end, but in this instance, the Honda was the one to stay rock solid! The guy in the Corvette said that he could see all the skid marks as he was sliding sideways!
I'll have to watch out for that particular corner when I run at Grattan

Ahhh home.
I love Grattan. Anyone who has been to Gingerman but not Grattan is really missing out on one of the best roadcourses
in the midwest. The Road Atlanta of the North.
I'm sure the guy in the vette wasn't thinking that.
From the video it looked like they were running "clockwise" (Grattan runs both directions).
Seems the vette spun on the enterance to the front straight, right in front of the garages and pit row...oh the SHAME. He's lucky, it could have been alot worse.
I would love to get a VHS copy of this if anyone knows who to contact...please tell.
I have my own version of this video taken "counterclockwise" at Grattan on my GSXR750.
If I ever edit it and mpeg it I'll post it but don't hold your breath.

Looks like "torque oversteer" to me. Not enough rear end planted. That's the part coming on to the "drag strip" part of the track and it has a rise in it as you turn, so you do get a little light in the rear.
I hate to see crunched plastic ---

The other night I raced a Vette. Normally I don't race, but it was late, no traffic, and he rolled up next to me while I was doing about 65, and floored it.
He was about 2 car lengths ahead and then I decided to try to catch up. We both took a gentle curve over a hundred and kept going.
At about 110, he slowed. I kept going and blew by him. To make a long story short, I think he beat me, but barely. It did surprise me though how really quick this car is, considering he started ahead though.
It sure was a adrenaline rush!

Cool video, but did it take everyone else almost half an hour to download that? A few of you may recall that I have been using an ancient Pentium 90 mhz until a month ago, when I got a P4 1.3 GHz (still dial-up 56k modem, though). Am I doing something wrong, or is this normal and I need DSL?!
