The are not AL, more like cast iron. They weigh a ton. So no you can't anodize them. Chrome them? Yes, Paint them, You bet.

Nickel, cobalt, and the rare gadolinium and dysprosium are also magnetic materials.

it doesn't always have to have iron in it.
