As Bieg so eloquently stated in a previous post, I also believe that given time the S2000 will be a true classic sports car. I personally purchased my S2k with the intention of keeping it for a VERY long time. One of the things that I felt would be important 20 or 25 years from now is to have a "classic kit" that goes with the car.

Here's what I currently have in my "kit":

1. Original car magazines that contain articles regarding the 2000 S2000 published before and after it was released (1999-2000)

2. Original Honda Posters

3. Unopened 1/18 and 1/24 scale models

4. Service Manual

5. Original Sales Brochure

6. Original Window Sticker

7. Owner's Manual

8. Service Bulletin 0055

9. Original Bill of Sale

10. Quotes from those on the board that say "It's just a car"

Since the 2001's are being released shortly, I want to be sure that I get whatever I can relating to the 2000 now before it's too late. What am I missing???

I have many of the same things that you have, but I also have sales brochures from around the world, and 1/43 diecast models, to include one sold by Honda DMC (Japan). However, I have found that it takes a certain type of personality to go "gaga" over these items. I once had a Corvette, and all Corvette owners want as much documentation as possible. In fact, many actually demand it before they purchase a car. On the other hand, I had a TR-4 and an A-H 3000, and it never dawned on me to think of these things as important. All the items are very nice to have, but I'm not sure if it will raise a price realised at sale, provided you sell to a real "sports car" type, and not some speculator/collector. I collected my items because it was a challenge - if it helps on sale, great. If it doesn't, you'll find my stuff on eBay.

In the big classic auto auctions it always seems to be the documentation materials that drive cars way above normal market value. Many classic cars sell for double their appraised value just because of the supporting documents.

And if you run into Elvis at a gas station, get his picture sitting in your car. That might help too.

Keep all your service related documents also. Keep all tags that came with the car and the original mats and keys. In essence everything. Take pictures and make albums...the more documentation that this is an original car, the more valuable the car.

I would also probably purchase the S2000 book that Honda sells through their web site.

FWIW, a lot of cars were "destined" to be collector's cars. Miatas come immediately to mind, and others from recent years. The big thing with the S2000 is their limited availability (but so were Miatas when they first came out).

Only time will tell. As far as "investments" go, you'd be way better off to drive the snot out of the car and throw $50 a month towards some Cisco stock for then next 25 years.

Then you'd have enough dough to keep your "classic" S2000 and by the new and improved, 300 hp per litre, S2025...

I have all of what you have (except the poster) as well as all the tapes including the Japanese videos and the dealer videos as well as a 4 inch thick looseleaf with color printouts of every internet article and review on the car (every page in plastic sleeves of course)

Also every piece of paper that came with the car as well as all service reciepts are bound in another looseleaf book in plastic sleeves.

My collection fills two milk crates already.

For those you who have purchased "the book" and "the poster" from Honda, have you noticed that they are numbered?? I have book number 142 and poster 864. Don't know if this is significant, but what the hey! Also have in my stash some stuff on the S600 and S800...our heritage! Have 1/43 scale
S600, S800 and S2000, kinda cool looking my desk.
