A cockpit cover can be occasionally useful for people who do use a tonneau cover to protect their roof while it is down. The cockpit cover is used during relatively short stops (such as for lunch) when you want to easily and quickly cover the cockpit (to protect the leather, to keep it and the shift knob from getting too hot while sitting in direct sunlight, to protect the entire interior from bird droppings, etc., and to just add a bit of security to the interior) without having to go to the trouble of removing and then reinstalling the tonneau cover and adding wear-and-tear to the roof and its plastic window by raising and lowering it that extra time. They can be thrown over the cockpit and snugged into place in a few seconds.

These things are made for other roadsters, but I have not been able to find one for the S2000. Anyone know of any or have any suggestions on creating a "home-made" version?

Covercraft now has one available for the S2000.

It comes in different materials depending on the application. I own the "Sunbrella" one--primarily because it is the only material which comes in black--and it fits and looks great.

I don't think S2000 availability is specifically mentioned on the Covercraft web site but you can call them and they will quote you a price.

I'm not sure there are discounts available to S2000Online.com or S2000Fans.com members but I'd certainly mention you're a member in case there are.

if only they had one for the delsol, its a pain to lug that 25 lb roof in and out of the trunk on hot days. and it espically sucks on warm spring days, cause if you leave the top off pollen gets all in the car.

This is your lucky day! I just happen to have bought one. I've got a few pics of it here:
http://albums.photopoint.com/j/AlbumIndex?...42637&a=9400067

I didn't really put it on properly when I took the pics; I was just trying it out for size. Fits perfectly, and will be great when the spring arrives.

The part number for the S2000 is IC3040, and the price is $54.95. For further information contact Jeff Sommerfeldt at jeff@autoaccessory.com. The site address is:

(Watch out for the breaks in the address!)

Just so you know,

The Covercraft Sunbrella material version was the most expensive of the various versions available and was, as I recall, at least TWICE as expensive as what 1Y2KS2K is quoting.

The only reason I went for the Sunbrella is because I wanted it in black (car is red). My car is always garaged and never taken out on foul weather days so I use it during the summer driving season when I don't want to go through the hassle of putting the top up but still want to shield the interior.

Sweet!! I definitely would like to have one of those, especially because I like to leave the car in the garage w/ top down quite a bit. I need a cover to eliminate the dust on the dash.

Anyone else interested? Group buy maybe?

I am interested but would want a black one to go with my black/black car. Also, how does it attach to the car?

It covers the windshield and is held in place there by the windshield wipers.

It has elastic straps that go around the door handles.

And it has three tabs that go under the front of the trunk.

To position the trunk tabs, you open the trunk, place the tabs in the seam gap between the front of the trunk and the rear deck and then close the trunk.

I've also have a black one to block out that UV ray. I got it from out sponsor "TopNotch" here in GA. I can't remember how much I paid for it? Because I ordered the bra, mirror cover at the same time. Just give them a call, it's toll free and you should get a discount from them if you're S2ki member!

I believe I purchased mine from Top Notch Auto Accessories, too.

When I received it I discovered it was made by Covercraft. Covercraft makes high quality products so I was pleased to see this.

There's a link to Top Notch at the bottom of this page, as well as their telephone number, so you should be eligible for an S2000online.com membership discount.
