I'm 6'1'' and I fit fine, it's only uncomfortable on super long drives. I drove to vegas a couple times and my leg cramped up but that was it.

A good friend of mine is 6'4, his head would be an inch or two from the softtop with the oem seats. Now he has a good 5-6 inches but the seats are too narrow for him to fit comfortably. If you decide to go the aftermarket seat route make sure you sit in it first because most seem to be built for larger framed people.

The seats profile, be it Ap1, Ap2/CR is the same. The only difference is the material on the CR seats is made to reduce seating slippage. And there is no additional room in the CR, in fact the ride is quite harsh compared to a stock Ap2 which may reduce your comfort level. And why do you need your Mom's permission to consider a CR?

CR seats actually sit a hair higher than AP2 seats. A friend of mine (6'1"-6'2") has a CR and his elbow almost touches the center console (ab 1/4"-1/2"), but when he sat in my fiancee's 06, his elbow rests on it fine. Don't know if 1/4"-1/2" will make that big of a difference to you, but you may want to try them all out first.

This member ^ is correct. I am a current CR owner and the driver seat does sit a bit higher than on a ap1 or ap2. The foam in the seat is also different that causes this.

This was the first thing I noticed when I put CR seats into my AP1 ('01), then into my AP2 ('04). To me it was a very noticable difference. I love the CR seats, but preferred the seating position of the AP1

I would concur, the CR seats have you sit a tad higher... or it sure seems that way. While I am a short guy, I've had some of my tall co-workers (whom are about the height of the OP) sit in my CR. Torso-Leg length ratio had a lot to do with whether or not they were able to comfortably fit. The unscientific results amounted to co-workers with shorter legs but longer torso's seem to fit better. The steering wheel sat too low for some of my co-workers once they managed to wedge themselves into the driver's seat.

I don't know if the hard top really offers much more clearance up top being I'm not tall enough for that to be a problem. But the HT uses the same clamps as the soft-top and has to align to the windshield the same, I wouldn't think you'd get that whole lot more space inside. But I could be wrong.
