Default S2000 crash data

Hi folks, been sitting here reading about S mishaps and decided I'd do a little bit of research. I wanted to see just how many crashes there were, and if there were maybe some similarity to them, some common denominator. I decided I'd start my research when I purchased my S, which was in September of last year.

The parameters of the data were that only crashes where there was substantial damage done to the S were included. No fender benders or parking lot type accidents were added. I included the following information:

Date (month the accident took place)

Location (state or country of residence - as of now, I've primarily focused on the US. As time goes by, I will include other countries in the mix, no offense intended, just a tad short of time)

Description (As good a description of the event as possible. I'm by no means trying to judge the driver or conditions, and I would hope that no one else does either.)

Results/Driver (what happened to the driver physically)

Results/Car (what happened to the S)

If someone notices that their accident is listed, and can give me (and is willing) some more information, please PM me so that I can keep an accurate database going. If you notice that you had an accident within the time frame - from Sept. 03 - on, and I didn't include your accident and you'd like me to, please PM me.

I'd like to keep this database going, if ya'll think it would be useful, so whenever there's an accident mentioned in one of the forums involving an S, please PM me and I'll keep it updated as best I can.

It's my hope that we can all learn something from these events and hopefully avoid them in the future.

While the overwhelming majority of driver's/passengers survived with bumps and bruises, there were 3 fatalities, so please don't think this is a post raving about how safe our car is in accidents and get to feeling all invincible!!

And, most importantly, DRIVE SAFE!!

thanx

PS
my database didn't translate very well from WordPerfect to this forum. IF you have a hard time reading this and would like a copy of the spreadsheet, give me a holler.

Catfish. Not flame but this study of yours may have a sampling bias. Those drivers hurt (or worse) in the crashes will not be posting their experience here. Only the able drivers will be able to do that. So by this poll, you're selecting for the ones who are healthy and may come to a wrong conclusion...

It does seem that way but I look at that as a good thing. After a serious accident would you rather have a car with major repair damage that will never be right again or a check with the option to buy whatever you want (new or used)? I'll take the latter every time.
