The S2000 is NOT dangerous.
The little turn is NOT stupid.
You simply saw vids of S2000s being driven by dangerous, stupid DRIVERS or drivers who had a lapse in good judgement!
no car is inherently dangerous - only the person behind the wheel.
I think if you started on reasonable RWD cars (MR-2, Miata, 3-series/Z3/Z4) you'll handle an S2000 fine.
If you're going from FWD to an S, you're going to have quite a learning curve.

A geo metro is dangerous if you wrap it around a pole.
Actually the S2000 I would say is one of the safest cars in its class. If you spin the back end out, it takes very minimal touch up to bring it back to normal. Anytime you let off the gas the car just grabs right back onto the road.
Hence why S2000 are not the best for drift cars.

No, the car is not dangerous. To the contarary, it has probably the best addicent-avoidance ability you can get. Also, it has done pretty well in occupant protcection tests.
The OEM tires on the AP1s ('00 to '03) did get pretty "slippy" in the rain after some wear. Maybe it was a good thing that those OEM tires never lasted long enough to expose any of us to much danger. Can't speak to the AP2 OEM tires ('04 to present) except to say that they are different tires, and I've not heard this complaingt about them.
Thanks,
Richard

One thing is for sure... I definately reach my limit before the car does because I start to get a little freaked out when the g-force is trying to throw me across the car. This is my first car with amazing handling, so I still have some getting used to it. But, IMO, it handles amazing... nice and crisp.

I agree with essentially all of the above posts.
However, most of them are commenting on the ability of an S2000 to avoid an accident (or the ability of a donkey driver to get into one).
Therefore, I should say that I'm not certain what you mean by dangerous? Are you referring to the chances of getting into an accident, or are you inquiring about the chances of surviving one, or something else? Accident avoidance doesn't = collision survival.

Spend the $40 on an autocross to learn the limits of the car so you can stay well under them on the street. Enthusiastic driving is fine on a daily basis, testing the limits of the car, or driver, at 10/10ths. is an invitation for disaster simply due to the variables that make up public roads (oil, ice, rain, traffic, pedestrians, etc.). There are many great drivers that have survived an oh sh*t moment simply because they had an extra 1 or 2/10ths in reserve. It is a very capable auto, but it just doesn't matter how talented you are or think you are, drive this car like an idiot and it will hang your ass out to dry.
Car is not more dangerous than others on the market. It is all in the ability of the driver and their competence to be aware of how they drive. If you drive aggresively it would be easier to crash in any car. Only thing I would say is to be careful when driving in rain. I took a corner too fast after a drizzle and I was trying to adjust my CD player
then lost control, over-corrected, spun over the median and went passenger side into a pole.
Just be careful when you drive and don't try to impress anybody unless you are 110% sure something bad won't happen and you won't have a car like this....................
