ok.

how many of you get a tad offended when somebody asks you if your car is a miata?

i know i do a bit.

it has nothing to do with car performance or car potential, its because our car costs more money.

nobody wants to get ripped off. mazda owners stand by thier car because it was a bargain, and a performance bargain if you look at the miatas potential.

but at the same time, how many miata owners have people jaw drop and mouth drool over thier cars?.....not many. i live in south carolina, there are not many s2k owners here, so i feel very exclusive driving mine, yet i see a handful of miatas on a daily bassis, and to be honest i could give a damn how many after market parts they have in thier car cause i dont autocross. I love the s2k's high redline, i think the power if fine, low torque doesnt bother me, all my friends are jealous, i love the jealous hate from co workers.

anyone here that says that its not a status symbol is a liar, otherwise we wouldnt keep our cars looking nice with volk rims, hard tops, new badges, no badges...etc..etc..etc

life is all about personal gain, not bargains, other wise id buy my clothes from dollar general and get my haircut at supercuts.

final thought.

if everything in the world were free and your option was an s2k, or a miata, which would you choose?

i know what i would pick......
Wow....

There is more to life than cars, money, and personal status.

s2000 over miata anyday. both cars arent manly in my opinion but if i had to choose no doubt s2k. However for the s2k doesnt seem like what you get is what you pay for.. its a tad pricy.

i love both cars and feel i'm fully qualified to rejoin the discussion.

first, you don't often see people owning s2000's longing for a miata because they could likely sell their car and buy a miata while not losing too much money. i have contenplated doing this but i hate the money lost on the whole process including taxes.

i miss my miatas in some senses but clearly acknowledge the s2000 is superior in some ways:

handling - equal
acceleration - s2000
steering - miata
size/weight - miata
stereo - miata
looks - s2000
quality - s2000
insurance - miata
engine - s2000
mpg - miata
braking - s2000

personally i prefer the analog gauges and cabin of the miata as well. they're both great cars and although i do prefer the miata as a daily driver it's not a good move financially...lastly i trust the s2000 for reliability moreso than the miata.

^^^I like what you've done here.

IMO,

handling - equal
acceleration - s2000
steering - s2000 (miata ps felt too overboosted to me)
size/weight - miata
stereo - s2000 (although I think this depends on the MY of each car you are comparing)
looks - s2000
quality - s2000
insurance - miata
engine - s2000
mpg - miata (I got 30 in my miata, and I get 28 in my s2000, so.....eh)
braking - s2000

s2k is definatly NOT a status symbol.

status symbol...well it depends on your age...obviously if you are 20 years old it could be used as one. as you get older there are plenty of people driving suv's that cost way more than my car

Yeah, even if a status symbol is what you are after, a HONDA S2000 isn't really worthy as a status symbol.

I personally don't care what people call my car. My car doesn't belong to me for their enjoyment or opinions.

its not all about cost though, its the image your car projects. im 21 and i get people asking me what car it is all the time and they cant believe its a honda. obviously this car looks more like a bmw, lexus, porsche (i've gotten all 3 multiple times) than the average car. that being said, most people associate a 2-seater convertible (minus miata) as an "expensive" sports car. some are not, but im just saying these cars project that image.
