Default S2000 driving though the rain a few days ago

Last Sunday I was driving from my parents place for lunch and the rain was comming down hard, there was 1-2 inches of water covering the entire hwy and it was pooring down rain, my wipers were on high and it was still difficult to see. I had a good grip on the steering wheel as it would go left/right as I hit different depths of water.

On the other side of the hwy I see an S2000. For a little while now I have my mind set on buying an 02 S2000 in 4-6 months or so and I have been hearing all of the wipe out stories. I did not expect to see an S2000 driving though the highway in these conditions. This evidence makes me worry less if I am caught in the rain while driving one once I buy one.

I drive my S in plenty of rain storms and have not had any issues as I slow down with standing water - common sense will keep you out of most problems!

Do you honestly think Honda would manufacture and sell to the public a car that can't be driven when the road is wet? They sell these things in England and other parts of Europe that are less than dry most of the year.

Use your head and you won't have any problems. In most single car accidents, the last thing I'd expect to find fault with was the car...

You also must consider that many people change the wheels and tires after they purchase the car. Caution should be used when driving with the factory S02s in heavy rain. The S02s are a dry pavement/warm weather performance tire. The MY04 S2000 comes with RE050s and should not have the same problem as the earlier models.

The S2000 does fine in the rain. You just need to be careful. I've driven my '02 through two rainy seasons on the stock S02's as well as Kumho Ecsta Supras, and it does fine on either. Don't let fear of rain stop you from buying a S2000. Once you get it, just take it easy through the wet and you won't have problems.

use common sense and you'll be fine. avoid standing water, travel 5-10 mph less than the speed posted and always keep both hands on the wheel. dont make aggressive/sharp turns and avoid full throttle bursts. again, these should be already known due to having common sense.

my s03's are great in the rain, just have to use common sense like everyone else is saying too. I was worried about driving the car in the rain too until i got my s03's, but i have no worries now. It is the rest of the morons on the road who drive like idiots in the rain you have to worry about more than the car itself.
