Default S2000 Drove Off by Itself(without a driver)

A S2000 started by remote control and drove into a store. It was a '07 and the car went all the way into the store(no one was hurt) as the owner just looked on in disbelief. This happened in Fair Oaks just outside of Sacramento,CA I saw this story on KCRA but can't find the video on line, but on the newscast he got in the car hit the button on his keychain and the car took off at a good pace.
I wonder if he is a member of S2ki

Thats the worst. He must have left it in gear and forgot when he remote started it.

So I guess they had to disconnect the clutch pedal safety switch to let the car start without the clutch pedal being depressed. Not too smart to park it in gear with that setup.

Sounds odd to me. I've done the clutch over-ride mod on my S2000, on two occasions I started the car in gear and it just stalled out both times. The starter wasn't strong enough to crank it over long enough to get the car in motion, it just moved about a foot or so. I have an ap1 with a new ap2 starter and ultra light flywheel. Was that guy's car facing downhill when it started ?.

And that's why you always engage the parking brake.

The S2000's parking brake is fairly weak. The starter will EASILY over power the parking brake especially in Reverse. I have seen it happen on more than one occasion.

looked for that story but can't find it on KCRA or the web. Just got back last night from a week trip so I did not watch local news.

I had an old Corolla 4 banger in Minneapolis as my airport beater car. I had the biggest battery that would fit in the engine compartment as its get really, really cold there. One of the cylinders was not firing well and I pretty much had to keep the throttle wide open to keep the engine running and drive the car-not alot of power but all it had to do was get me from the airport lot to the hotel and back. One snowy cold day the engine finally quit on the offramp. Heavy snowfall and rushhour traffic. All I could do was engage the starter and use that to drive a half mile to the lot. I knew that if I let off the starter, it being so hot, it would never work again. That sucker got me all the way to the lot and into a parking spot. Last I ever saw of the beast. Paid $300 for it. God bless Die Hard. Made my flight.
