Default S2000 Engine/Warranty Issue

On October 20th 2002 I leased a Honda S2000. On Thursday 12.26.02 the car stalled at a light and would not restart. The vechicle was towed to the dealer. Upon inspection they stated that the car had been over remmed or downshifted from a higher to lower gear at high speeds. Neither of these were actually performed. The dealer is stating that the pistons are bent and they are not covered under warranty due to driver/owner abuse. I have done neither. The car is less than 3 months old less than 2900 miles. I have hired a lawyer and suing American Honda since they also do not want to honor the warranty. I also spoke to a Ferrari mechanic who is telling me that it is virtually impossible for anyone to that to a new car. My plea with anyone that is online is: has anyone experienced a similar problem with their purchase on the S2000?

That's not true. You can rev to 9k in 3rd gear and mis-shift into 2nd and WEEEEEEE!!! 14 k rev. It's been done before. I can't remember who on the board had that prob.

My opinion of Ferrari mechanics just dropped a notch.

Yeah, that mechanic is full of s**t. Real bummer about your engine, sorry to hear about it . I would fight with Honda about the warranty issue - it's only 3 months old and even though the engine blew it should be covered . Don't know how you bent the pistons without over-revving......who knows maybe the engine was defective to start. Good luck getting it repaired!

Two possibilities:

(1) A kid at the dealership got it started, did some donuts, then broke the engine.

(2) Your car was towed in 1st gear and the rear wheels on the ground.

If it were me and since the car is leased through AHF, I would stop making payments on the car, until everything is settled...Just my thought though...

Explain everything to the credit bereau, because a new engine like that should be covered by Honda...

I also meant it as make Honda take the car back if they are not going to cover the bill for the new engine or for fixing it...

No offense but I suspect you aren't telling us everything. In any event, your lawyer will undoubtedly get a hold of the parts of the engine and it will be pretty obvious whether the engine was overrevved or not. It's not exactly something you can hide like whether you adhered to the oil change schedule or not.
