The s2k is not a good first car no matter the gender. The reasons are obvious. Buy a Civic and then move up.
What makes a Civic a better first car?
The fact that s2ki has an accident thread that you can sift through. I don't think civic forums have accident thread like this forum does.

Some are kind of gore(ish) in the sense that on one of them you see blood.

I don't have kids but I wouldn't want my kids first car to be a manual trans since as a new driver they need to focus on learning how to drive more than learning how to shift. Secondly I wouldn't want a new driver in any car with as many huge blind spots with a tiny rear window either.. Its ok to let her drive the s2k after a few years of learning how to drive in general but an s2k as a first car is a no no..

Nothing wrong with learning on a standard... My first car was a standard Toyota celica. A lot different from the s2000 though.

As car guys, we all know female owners of any enthusiast cars in any car club are being "worshipped or idolized," in a way...hot or not. Your daughter would probably get hit on a lot...

Aside from that, I would get my children something more economical, higher safety ratings, practical, and fun to drive.

It would make you a cool dad, but that doesn't necessarily make you a better dad. I would go the safer route.

I'll echo the above comments. No traction control, rwd, tendency to oversteer, no side airbags, and a difficult to manage clutch all are issues when driving, especially in the rain. Learning to drive manual while also learning to pay attention at speed can also be an issue. Also, boyfriends may want to drive her car and show off. I'd get a cheap car for her to learn on, but teach her to really drive with you as a passenger in the s2000.

If you don't rev it, it is quite tame, and I have little concern that she would drive irresponsibly. I'm more concerned about all the other people on the road and the car's overall safety. What do you think? Bad idea?
Definitely safer than most cars that offer a similar driving experience.
After owning and driving the shit out of my s2000 im terrified of getting in my friends miata. They feel so small and unsafe
We have airbags, roll protection and a pretty good safety rating, I dont think its a issue

I don't think I'd let a new teenage driver get into anything RWD. I remember fishtailing and almost wrecking my step-dads automatic V6 Firebird when I was 16.

Your oblivious brother. I would highly not recommend this crazy idea. Most parents don't really know how bad their kids are
