OK... so who's going to be the first person to go out and verify this?
I'd do it if I had a designated spot to do it

I've done about 15 in reverse in my S. I've done a little over 30 mph in reverse in my CRV. The CRV is very solid going in reverse at that speed.

This is what my car will do at 9k (red bars flashing in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th gears)

First: 39 mph
Second: 60 mph
Third: 89 mph
Fourth: 112-113 mph
Fifth: 139 mph

This is with red bars flashing for about 2-3/10th's of a second before shifting. The red bars were flashing in fifth for about one-two second(s) before I shifted into sixth gear.
You can't consider these accurate for 2 reasons. First, you would have to bounce the rev limitter for at least a second for the speedometer to update itself to the correct speed (especially in the lower gears). For example, in 1st gear, the difference between 39 and 42 MPH is way probably 1/10th of a second, and the speedo doesn't update that fast. Second, neither the tachometer or the speedo are accurate.

2000-2003 @ 8900rpm
1st - 44.17
2nd - 67.67
3rd - 93.44
4th - 119.20
5th - 142.52
6th - 170.64

2004 @ 8000rpm
1st - 37.91
2nd - 58.08
3rd - 80.19
4th - 102.30
5th - 126.08
6th - 155.66

Don't expect to hit 170mph
This seems about right. I've only done 148mph in 6th and it looked as if I had a lot more room before I would red line.

Someone said our cars only top out at 147mph but I guess that all depends if you've changed your gears or not.

You also have to take tire distortion and wheel spin into consideration.

I thought the 04 had a higher top speed because I was told 6th gear was lower... am I wrong?

The difference in gearing is not enough to offset the 1000 lost RPM.

I'm not sure if it's true but I was informed that the 04 had a slightly higher gear ratio, thus limiting its top speed
