around here, having a girl-driven s2k is very very rare. the only female drivers i've seen with s2k's are very hot though. im glad honda didnt offer an automatic option for this beast, then we'd have soccer moms (talking on cellphones and feeding their children mcdonalds) driving this car.

Apparently Barry WY Silver/Black '01 has something against NJ?? All I can say is that if I were from Wyoming, I don't think I'd be putting down NJ...

And for anyone who thinks this is a pointless thread, I disagree strongly. There is no question that certain automobiles attract more female owners than male, can anyone really dispute that? It's a known phenomenon. By the same token, certain cars will, by their particular nature, attract more male than female buyers. The S2000 seems to be one of them, whether because it's only available with a six-speed manual, has a suspension firm enough to cause pain in certain parts of the female anatomy, has little storage capacity, or whatever.

To those women here who do have one, all the more respect to you for buying such a car. And may your tops be down as often as possible. Convertible tops that is...

DJ,

U nailed it. The BIG 3 spend millions targeting a certain group of buyers. Ford targeted female buyers ages 18 to 55 with a catchy names like "The Probe"

I'm sorry I couldn't resist

On page 266 of my owner's manual, it states: "The Honda S2000 was not designed to be a girl's car...." So there! Nah nah nahnah nah.

man. such male insecurity. i think the better question is, is this an enthusiasts car? of course it is. as much as any ever made.

if you need to fool us regarding the size of your thang, you are better off with a big torquey truck or american muscle car. dont you know the formula:

BIG torque + BIG hp + BIG motor = BIG man (tiny homophobe)
lil torque + 4 cyl + convertable = lil girl (human indifferent to stereotypes)

come on folks. lets evolve here...

what do i do? i keep some raw meat in the trunk of my roadster to "keep the balance"

excellent point tallguylehigh...

the difference is that some people WOULD avoid the S just because someone said it was "girly". glad to hear you are not one of them...

FWIW, many perceive the M3 convertible to be a girls car, yet it is an incredible performance car. the m3 coupe is unquestionably "manly". my hypothesis then is that the ragtop iteself is viewed as pretty and feminine, regardless of the car it is on.

As a girl, I will add my two cents that the S is no chick car. The guy in the Maserati that I pounded this morning sure didn't think it was a chick car either.

Most of a car's handling finesse comes from the driver anyway, IMO. You can drive an S like grandma, or you can autocross a Miata, ya know.

I don't know a lot of women who can or have interest in expressing themselves through VTEC; maybe that's why they opt for the Eclipses and Mustangs.

And 12 year old girls aren't the only ones who dig the S. Valets dig it too.

I don't think you're insecure for asking, though... if you can catch me, we can continue the debate.
