Default S2000.......Gone :(

Hey guys, I don’t ever post here but check and read almost every day. A few Saturdays ago my 2006 BB S2000 with just fewer than 30k miles was stolen from Fort Lauderdale beach. I meant to post this earlier but haven’t had the chance. I reported it to authorities around 1:00am Saturday night/ Sunday morning and the car was received Sunday morning around 10:30am. Obviously they worked pretty quickly because there is not much left of the car. I’ve been dealing with insurance for the past 3 weeks (SOOO FUN!) and still haven’t gotten to where I want to be. I will post an update regarding the insurance BS for reference and/ or write a post completely bashing Progressive. I am now torn in the decision on whether or not to purchase another S. I was always worried about theft/ vandalism and now after this it might be too much to be comfortable. In the meantime, I have a bright red Chevy HHR rental car (which is surprisingly good off road!) for another 2 weeks. After that I will DD my classic mini until I decide on my new car.

This is the link to the cars salvage auction (hope link works) My link

Suggestions, questions and comments always welcome!!

Wow. They left the engine?

I had my '99 GSR Sedan stolen many years ago, and they did basically the same thing, except there was nothing inside the car save the dash and the OE head unit.

Left everything under the hood except the valve cover and most of the reservoir caps, though. Which is (or was) the most expensive thing in the car.

Guess they didn't have the time.

Thieves need to die. Sorry this happened to you. Keep us updated.

Try to have some fun with the HHR. I have one as a company car and despite the goofy looks, it's a good utility car that can be somewhat fun to drive if the tires are decent.

I so badly want another S and it feels like I see them EVERYWHERE I go now! I’ve always been afraid that this day would come and now that it has I don’t know if I would be able to leave it without the worry of it being there when I get back. I have a 78’ mini that I’m going to DD for now but I’ve been looking at S2ks and Elise’s. (who needs an S2K or Elise and a mini???) I’ve also been looking to get into a Dodge Power Ram in addition to the mini and just save the insurance money.

-The S was paid for and Progressive has offered $22,180 + sales tax – my $500 deductible.

-The car had an alarm and proximity sensor which didn’t appear to even slow them down!

-Yes, I didn’t even notice that the seat rails were cut until I zoomed in on the pic. I tried to zoom and crop to show as best as possible.

-HHR is an awesome utility car. I’ve previously owed 3 VW GTI’s and I have to say that I sooo miss having the hatch back. The HHR has handled some unnecessary (yet very necessary) abuse and seems to be holding up nicely.

damn
they did a good job stripping it.
that sucks so bad. i would never want to see my car like that

i left progressive like 5 years ago. best thing i ever did. the completely suck.
they were straight up ripping me off and were horrible to deal with when i had a claim.

Geico was much better but now im with MET auto through my company.
they saved me a TON of money.

good luck.
def get another S!
