S2000 Headlights - Supposed To Be Lined Up?
Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, I wasn't sure if it should be in the Technical Forum or S2000 Talk. Moderators, please move it if it's in the wrong area!
Thank you~!
At any rate, I drive my S2000 every day from work at night and have noticed something. The beams from my headlights are not exactly even with each other at the top of the cutoff. In fact, it looks like the edge of my right headlight beam is a little higher than the edge of my driver's side headlight beam.
It's kind of hard to explain, but I figured that the cutoff (from the cockpit) should look like this: --------- but instead it looks like this: ___-----.
I parked the car on a level surface and tried to see if one of the beams was hitting my eyes before the other, and it's the driver's side headlight that hits my eyes before the passenger side does.
This is not logical to me. If the passenger's side beam's cutoff looks higher than the driver's side beam cutoff, why would the driver's side headlight "blind" my eyes before the passenger's side does? And is it normal that they aren't lined up in the first place?
If I've confused anyone, I'll try to take a picture of my lights from the cockpit and post it here to clarify my explanation. *^^*

I can't explain why the driver's side hit you before the passenger side, but I can confirm that Honda does adjust the driver's side slightly lower than the passenger side so as not to blind oncoming traffic.

The HID lamps are quite intense and Honda likes to be nice to oncoming drivers. I don't know about you guys, but even after a year I'm still blown away by the brilliance of the lamps. My garage is aflame when I turn them on.
The only problem is that they're so good, you really notice where they don't shine.
By the way, I believe the aiming is reversed in left-hand drive versions of the S as well. Pretty slick.

I've always lined up my headlights ( if not done so from the factory, or after I've cleared them if need be) so the right is a little higher. I figure that way when I'm on a 2 lane highway, you have more light on the right side of the road. This helps out in my state especially because of all of the deer that run out on the road. It also helps, in general, to see that side of the road (road signs and such) Maybe Honda (and others) were thinking the same thing.
