Default S2000 Insurance is so high!

I am considering a used S2000, maybe a 2001-2003 Model. I checked with my insrance 21st century, and they say that it will cost me $945 for 6 months of standard coverage, to add this as a 2nd vehicle, only using it 5000K a year as a weekend car. Why is it so much! what are you guys paying. My record should be pretty clear.

LA? Louisiana or Los Angeles?

There are many factors in the price of insurance for an S2000, I've seen people posting they pay $4K and up per year of coverage. In my case (with multiple policy, multiple car and other factors) I had $870 or thereabouts for the first year's premium (2003) with 11,000 mi/yr and full coverage. This is in Los Angeles, BTW.

The next year (2004) they tried to double it and cut my annual mileage to 5,000 miles. I got them back down to $1271 and increasing the mileage to 11,000. Calling around, I could not get a quote below $2000. Surprisingly, this year's coverage did not increase either.

1,300 / 6 months with progressive, State Farm Quoted me much more. I'm 23 and pay 230 a month.

I have a ticket coming off my record in June, so when my policy renews in July it'll go down to only 1,150 per 6 months! This will bring it down to 192 a month or so.

I'm also considered high risk though, due to the area I live in (atlanta). I've been in 4 accidents since I was 17, only one of which was my fault. I've also had a break-in in one of my cars and had everything in it stolen, and just recently having my entire car stolen.

I think we found the ONE thing that's cheaper in Hawaii.

$640 / 6 months - I'm 37 with no tickets or accidents. That's with StateFarm.

I have Allstate and it is $954 every 6 months and it is my daily driver. I have a clean driving record and I still have my good student discount even being out of college. My agent said that he can keep me on the good student discount until I am 25 and then it will drop even more by being 25 without having the good student discount. There are many factors into insurance premiums, including you credit score. Honestly the S2000 is the cheapest car I have ever insured. No compaints here.
