The S2000 isn't coming back...
Guys. I spoke with a guy who's second uncle's friend knows this salesman who sleeps with this girl who's boyfriend said that MY04 will be the last year for the S2000.
Honda will release the 'new' NSX the summer of 2005 as a 2006 model. The 'new' NSX will not have a V8, but a ~350 hp 6 cylinder engine. The price will be approximately the same. Acura will also release a convertible NSX later on. the styling cues will be derived from the F360.
Honda has assigned a special team to present plans for a new low end sports car planned to hit the market around MY~2008. Sources say that Honda plans to plant an inline 4 in the car that produces 315 hp. The engine will have i-VTEC technology and produce approximately 210 lbs/ ft of torque at lower RPMs. The redline will stay approximately the same.
The price range of the new Honda sports car has not been determined. Honda is also considering the new sports car be labeled an Acura in the US.
Yep, that's what I heard...

yea, I heard that that guy you pissed off was actually rich and went out, bought a viper, then ripped the engine out and put it in the S2000. I also heard that he took the S2000 engine out and put it in a Lotus Elise that was illegally brought over here. Then I heard that the Elise engine was put in the Viper. So guys, there's a 159 hp Viper out there that we can burn. But since it will look just like all the other Vipers, just go picking drag races with every Viper you see on the street... You'll eventually win.
well honda has a rep for not shooting itself in the foot (think civic si and rsx type s, or civic si and ITR). they never want their own offerings competing with each other. and i think its safe to assume that a new nsx is on teh horizon, after all the car is over 10 years old. and i really really doubt honda would make a significant change with the s2000 right before a new nsx debuts. about MY04 being the s's last, who knows? i wouldnt mind. maybe it will drive teh demand and resale price of my car up. =)
