S2000 in its own league?
Ok I've been noticing that magazines don't compare any other convertibles to the S2000. When they do comparos with the Z4, CLK, TT, Miata, Boxer and whatever others there are out there, they seem to leave the S2000 out of it. Yes I know that Car and Driver had a comparison test with the S along with the TT coupe, 350z and Mustang but that was done as a COUPE!?! Even in an article about a V6 rumored Miata they still compare it to the only the Bimmer. I think I also saw a new magazine comaring the Z4 to the TT and Boxer.
Soes the S2000 just completely outclass these other cars?(Thats reason I like to believe) Or does it not match up? Does Honda not want it compared to the others and refuse to supply a doner car?
Does anyone else notice this?

I think so...
S2000: $32k, 2 seat roadster.
because this price, it just doesn't seen too right to me when the S2000 compare with other roadsters like Miata, MR2 ($18-$26k) or Boxster, Z4....($40k+)
and the S isn't a hard top coupe so it doesn't seen that right to compare with 350Z, Mustang...
IMO, the S is still in it's own league in US until the 350Z Roadster come out...

...even then is the 350Z roadster in the same league. The car just looks bloated compared to an s2k IMHO. It seems to me that the s2k is more like a classic british roadster only sharing the japanese tech and price range with the Z.
I'm thinking performance wise. Imean in that Road and Track Miata article (rumor) it compares the new Miata to the Z4! Something laike maybe the Miata can compete withe the Bimmer.
keep in mind there are 2 versions of the z4: the 2.5 and the 3.0. the 2.5 is nowhere as performance competent as the 3.0. i'm not saying the miata is performance inferior, but any new version of the miata will probably be compared with the 2.5 and not the 3.0. supposedly the 3.0 is so performance competent that bmw has no plans on introducing an M version of the z4.
I think our best comparison is the M Roadster. My buddy has one and it is similar but different. I'd like to see a professional comparison done on the two cars. Fortunately for me he has a 2000 M Roadster, cause the ones with the new engines would blow the S2000 away. However, the price tag on the M roadster is considerably higher new.

Not really. I think our car should be used in more comparisons. It always burns me when they pick something like a Miata or MR2 to run with some big dogs.
Anyone who thinks our cars have no peers in terms of performance for the money has their eyes closed. For handling, check out all the cars rated faster than us at Auto-X (SCCA A-Stock and Super-Stock). For straight line speed, just go to any NHRA or Hot Import event. When you go bench-racing, just see how far "the most NA HP/displacement" gets you.
I love my S2000. I think it is an amazing machine. But it is NOT in a class of its own. It lives in a broad spectrum of sporting machines.
