Yesterday while driving through my neighborhood, a dog ran out in front of me and I got stopped just in time to miss it as it froze in the street.

Today a squirrel decided to test my brakes as well.

Anybody else save an animal with your Honda that would be roadkill otherwise?

There's a back street T-junction near my house with a big dip in it. I have to slow right down as I approach it. One night, about 10pm and very dark, I'm slowing down to negotiate it and I see something (I'm thinking rat) run at my drivers side, then clunk, as my rear tyre hops over it.

Morning after I'm walking the dogs up the street and was horrified to find it was actually a young possum (or opossum as most of the worl calls them).

I have to admit, I feel rather bad about it.

So in answer to your question, S02's are not particularly kind to marsupials.

One night coming home I was looking at a buck that was standing on the side of the road. It looked sort of impressive. Just as I looked forward, a doe was crossing the road in front of me. I hit those brakes hard as I could and could feel the abs working. Can't say it was all that close, but probably got within 8 ft. The doe just mosied along across the road after I stopped.

I have had to dodge numerous squirrels in my neighborhood as they scurry about gathering their nuts for the winter. So far I have successfully avoided flatening any. A friend of mine who once was a traveling salesman hit an 1800 lb. bull one night on a West Texas highway. It took that poor bull an hour to die; he moaned nonstop for that entire hour. The car (big Pontiac)was totaled.

My car sucked a small bird into the radiator opening at 50 mph. Bird didn't survive.

I hate to be the bad guy but this was an interesting story. I though our HID lights light up the world but they really don

So far no animals, they scramble out of the way when they hear me approach. However I did test my brakes when a man in an electric wheelchair drove downhill on Oakmont Blvd. into oncoming traffic in the left lane. An impatient driver tried to pass me as I slowed and I was forced to cut him off to protect the guy in the chair. In my rearview I saw the wheelchair take the corner and turn onto Bryant Irvin (an even busier boulevard). He was apparently disoriented. A firetruck came to his rescue a few blocks later.

Got my first kill last night. Dead possum... Felt bad for about 30 seconds. Then I spotted another dead one... then another... and then another. I was part of a club of some sort last night.

Now in the daylight I see the scratch it made down the drivers side on the rear bumper. Stupid animal!

Anyone use those whistles. Probably not. I can't imagine where you would mount them. Texas roads are notorious for deer, cattle and just about every other domesticateed animal.
