personally i have no interest whatsoever in the IS. sure its nice but you can drive down the street and see one just about every other car. its almost as common as 3 series bmw's.

stick with the S

I think we might be a little bias in an s2000 forum. I'm looking at an IS or TSX as an addition to my s2k. My wife is expecting and in NO way does she want me to get rid of our "date" car. Got to love her.

I say if an S meets your needs get an S, but don't get the one that you linked to as it is way overpriced.

If what you want is four doors why don't you look at something more interesting than a Toyota. If you want a reasonably priced four door that is fun to drive can I recommend a G35. I had one, and I miss it every time I drive the Touareg that I bought my wife to replace it.

some pretty bias answers in here.

i've been thinking about a new DD. an IS350 is definitely up there on my list. I've owned an IS300 before and I loved it.

dont get me wrong the 2jz is awesome, especially TT but think about it, that motor was designed in what 1991? That is OLD no matter how great it is, technology has clearly over ridden it. 227 HP in a cast iron 3.0 liter six? 240hp in an all aluminum 4?
The f20 was designed in what 1998?

The f20 is a sick engine for sure but when it comes to making power....2jz ftw. Cast iron block will hold 1200HP, no sleeving required.

I have always loved the is300, i was really close to buying one instead of my S, but decided on the S because of the performance. A bone stock s2000 is still a blast to drive. An is300 takes a couple grand to put it on the same "funness" level as a s2000 imo. I will own an is300 eventually in my life though.

The is250 is SLOWWW, the 350 is pretty quick.

someone on here posted this on a different thread, and i will quote them. It pretty much sums up the difference between the S and the IS imo:
"The IS is a classy car with a touch of sport. The S is a sports car with a touch of class." It's true.

That being said, no one can tell you which car YOU like better.

The Lexus IS is not a sport car. My buddy was looking into an IS250 manual but was disappointed that it was slower and felt like a boat compared to his 2005 RSX-S.

The only Japanese sport car (other than S2000) on the market that drives like a sport car and won't break the bank is the 370Z
