S2000 a mid-engine car?
Uh, not to get involved in this thread but I wouldn't consider any of the sources you cite to be a credible "dictionary". Most of them aren't dictionaries at all and the ones that say they are I haven't heard of. Certainly you don't expect us to believe the dictionary of street racing do you? While you've made a case by citing numerous sources that seem to agree on a fairly common term for what defines a mid-engine car you haven't exactly quoted us Merriam-Webster. The sites you quoted have about as much credibility as S2KI; it's just the opinion of those who created that particular website.
well, let's face it..."front engine"does has rather a bit of a stigma attached....people seem to equate the term with mom's station wagon or a ..gulp..sports sedan....but MID-ENGINE...well, that sounds more like a real race car now doesn't it??..it would be interesting to see what the FIA homologation papers on a viper or a panoz look like....hell -they might even give "front engine" cars a better image....just remember guys ;it's the OTHER honda that has a mid-engine.
Interesting in that Fiero article regarding the 50/50 split and cornering.
They talk about how this ratio provides the best steady state cornering at a constant speed. I'm convinced the best way to tackle a corner in this car is to enter slowly and get on the throttle early on to power out, which implies an increasing speed corner approach.
