S2000 Or Motorcycle

I didn't mean to use that as a rationale to flame s2000raj, but as a responsible, mature motorcyclist who has ridden safely for years (along w/ many friends who've done the same), I find that statement to be asinine.

Yes, cars are at fault in many motorcycle accidents, but think about the advantages you have on a bike:
- great acceleration to get out of a jam
- superior braking power
- maneuverability
- small size (~1/3 of a lane) - which provides more escape routes
Despite others' errors, I've been able to use these advantages to escape from these situations. Sure, there may be no escaping if a driver phucks up really bad, but proactive, defensive riding habits go a long way.

Unfortunately, I spent 14 days in a hospital because a driver didn't stop before making a left turn. It was my misfortune to be in the intersection at just that moment.
Admittedly, I may be a bit biased because of that.
After that I lost my nerve, and haven't been able to ride in the years since. My S2000 is all the thrill I need.
Enjoy your ride. Ride safely.

TRC2,
I own both. Just picked up a black S2000 Saturday. And own a Honda Magna that I only ride on the weekends anyway. It is a fabulous bike but after buying the S2000 I'll probably sell my bike. For the $4000-5000 my bike is worth I could rent a Harley ($145/day) for quite a few days.
Questions you should ask are:
1. If I buy a motorcycle, how often will I ride it throughout the year?
2. Does the time you plan to ride equal more than (Bike value)/$145?
If it doesn't it makes more sense to rent a bike. Little less convenient than owning but alot cheaper in the long run. Don't know of any reasonable S2000 dealers.
Of course this is easy for me to say... I live in a town with 2 Harley rental shops. Not sure where or what Galeton, PA is like. Nearest motorcycle rental place might be 500 miles away.
Check these places out. Maybe they can at least hook you up with a rental shop near you.

Also, I guarantee the wife would rather ride in the S2000. If she prefers a bike, does she have a sister.

Well, I have to join the crowd and say - S2000 is almost full substitution for a motorcycle.
For about a two years I was a daily driver of my R6 since I used it to commute. It saved me about an hour every day and I had total blast. The only exceptions were rainy days which were not many in Bay Area.
After I sold my first company and started to build another I became too busy and way too distracted. Not good when you think and "wake up" and don't remember how did you make last 500 yards... For the sake of my safety I did not ride the motorcycle since I caught myself not to think what the 5th driver ahead of me would do.
After I got my S2000 in June this year I never drove my bike with one exception. On that exception I crashed my bike pretty much from the reason I described above. The guy ahead of me suddendly turned to the garage not using his turn lights and I forgot to anticipate this.
During those 2 years I drove 15,000 miles mostly during rush hours on 101 here in the bay area. Survived and happy but will I saddle my R6 again? As long as I have my S2K I don't think so.

I love my S2000, but a car can never ever replace a motorcycle.... I'll repeat myself and post what I've said elsewhere: "Very soon scientists will discover an organ in our brain which starts to function under certain specific conditions, such as riding a motorcycle. When this organ functions, it releases a certain drug into the brain which produces a state of intoxication and euphoria". This is an undisputable fact.
drowe, rentals may not be a bad idea...IF you're a cruiser kind of guy. No Hardley Ableson is going to come close to replacing the fun of my RC51!
r2d2, no wonder you're not missing your motorcycle! Commuting on an R6, what a waste!
I do practical stuff in a cage, and save the motorcycle for fun only - preferably out of town, away from traffic and cops. I really don't like riding bikes in traffic, it sucks all the fun out of the experience.
fanoftheliving has it figured out!
