They are different. One big factor is the convertible top... the targa just isn't the same. I had a 2000 NSX and now drive a Jag S type R and a 04 S2k. I really enjoy both cars with the knowledge that for the same money as one NSX, I got 2 very cool cars. The S is more rigid, and convertible and has better brakes. The NSX is more exotic, more torque, and more exotic materials. They are both designed with similar technology, built on the same factory floor and designed by the same engineers.

Bottom line is that it really is a tough call...I miss my NSX a little, but only until I get my but into the S!!

I see your problem and had one for myself about 9 months ago. I think you can see my choice. I also considered restoring an S800 which would have been more rare.

S2000....NSX is old old old. The NSX has an 80's mullet hair doo look about it.

I'm with Harley. The NSX does nothing for me. The S is a good looking car. The NSX looks dated and not worth the extra cash. All my opinion only.

If I am going to make the choice and go NSX what is the best year and best model to have? I prefer the ones with the hide away headlights over the new look and I would not want one thats a pre 97. Is there any difference between the model years after 97 and before the new one with its new headlights.

the differences are well documented to the minutia on nsxprime.com 97-99 no real changes. 2000 got some minor upgrades like perforated leather and better synchros.
