Default s2000 in New York Times

They seem to be biased toward the porshe but shit the s2k matches up pretty nicely.

Also to the 04 owners, they said 04 model compared to earliar models was "less exciting". I'm guessing to the 9k redline and refinement compared to 00-03.

I personally don't like the NYT think its biased, in fact one of the major writers got fired or something for making a bunch of news and articles up.

Thats kindof surprising considering most journalists liked the MY04 better than the 00-03 models. Either way its still a great car ... haven't read the NYT article, so I can't comment on the bias.

Do you have a link for the NYT article? ... Oh I see you added the link to the article ... You can use http://www.bugmenot.com/ so you don't need to register.

Actually, after reading the article, the journalist's findings are pretty much in line with what everyone else said about the MY04 S2000. It makes the car more driveable and a better overall car while giving up a bit of its pure sports car feel. Notice he said "a bit less exciting", which is different in terms of scale from what you quoted saying "less exciting".

Here's the entire article for those who don't want to register or use the bugmenot.com ..

[QUOTE]S2000: Still a screamer, but a revised engine makes it easier to drive.

"The refinements might make the S2000 less of a racecar surrogate for Walter Mittys. Compared with the original, it is quieter and easier to drive near its performance limits, but it is also a bit less exciting. "

Ya thats what I said ... in terms of the scale of things, if you just said, a Honda Accord is less exciting than an S2000 ... that would be true. But if you said a Honda Accord was a bit less exciting than an S2000, I think that would be a huge understatement.

In terms of scale, saying the MY04 S2000 is a bit less exciting than the 00-03 S2000 isn't quite as harsh of a remark as just less exciting.

I don't want to start yet another MY04 versus 00-03 S2000 war ... I'm sure there have been plenty of them already ...

My feeling is that its natural for every car owner to want to defend his or her own car ... And I'm sure each one of us purchased a particular model year for a reason. If you had the choice between the MY04 and the 00-03 model years and you chose the MY04 or the 00-03 models ... I'm sure it was with good reason. As long as you're happy with your decision, thats all thats important, right?

I haven't driven an '04 but based on my '02 I'd say the article is accurate. The S2000 isn't perfect -- no car is -- and folks who buy one need to know it warts 'n all. It also is consistent with other reviews like a blurb Consumer Reports has in its special cars publication that I read last night at Barnes and Noble.

But, overall, I'd agree with it except the comparisons to other cars. The base Porsche Boxster isn't in the same performance category as an S2000 and the Boxster S, which is, costs so much it isn't, IMHO, a fair comparison. Also, while beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I'm not pleased someone claims a Crossfire, a hideous beast, looks better than an S2000 -- it is plain insulting.

Crossfire or s2000? Who would pay for that p.o.s. Until this car all I owned was dodge/chrysler/plymouth and I can tell you that I would never ever pay that kind of money for a mopar. Honda is the girl of my dreams
