Angry S2000 and NoS ... good combination?

Here's the thing... I want and NEED more power. My 2000 was the most fun and power i needed when i bought it at the begging of the year but, I am being beat up by them damn 350z's and M3's. I rode in a friends volvo the other day with a 75HP shot of nos and WOW!!! too much fun. SO FAST. Is this a danger with the high compression this car has... or the 9,000 redline? I want the most bang for the buck and don't want to go the forced induction route. I only want to mod the intake, exhaust, and possibly a VAFC2. I wont use it much, just when i need that little extra boost for those other bad a$$ cars. Is this a bad idea??? will I totally eat the life of my honda and risk and engine KA BOOM!!!

lol NOS is FI. so if you don't want to go the FI route, then you can't use nitrous either.

and before anyone jumps on you, we all know you mean nitrous oxide. but NOS is a widely accepted term, even though it's really a brand. just like asking for a kleenex when you really want a "facial tissue".

and your honda engine can take nitrous just fine. guys have pushed this car to 18psi daily or as much as 26psi on the dyno on a completely stock block (except head gasket). so nitrous isn't necessarily bad to use. it burns hotter, however, so you may want to consider using a VAFC2 to see if you're knocking while you use it, as detonation is a bad thing. though I know members have used nitrous with no problem.

IMO, you're better off getting gears. low low 13's should be attainable with 4.57 or 4.77 gears and decent tires. and that's a cheap mod (under $1000).

however, 350Z's shouldn't be "beating you up". they are not faster than the S2000 until above 100mph. in fact, you'll pull on a 350Z on a stoplight race, as your gearing makes the car faster before 60.

I considered NOS but opted for SC instead. I think that you will find in most cases NOT everyone, that once you get on the juice you will be filling your bottle up a lot more than you thought you would.

All that power at the touch of a button(s) can make for the "KA-BOOM" you were concerned about.

If you have had the car less than a year and are getting beat by stock 350Zs, then it sounds like you just need practice...or a ticket for street racing...

What I planed on doing long term was 4.57's + comp diff housing this year (hopefully that is, cash is starting to thin out on me) and do a 75 shot next year and only use the funny gas when needed. I think for the cash these two mods would be one hell of a bang for the buck and be able to give some big guys a good run in a strait line.

How does nitrous qualify as forced induction?

Sure, you're changing the fuel/air ratio (and for that matter - the actual fuel) but it would take some convincing for me to agree that it constitutes forced induction.

Just curious really...

It's kind of a fine line. It's forced induction because you are forcing the nitrous into the cylinder, its not naturally sucked in.

First of i know NOS is a brand name and the one i was picking. Second I'm not doing a SC or a turbo is what i meant by no forced induction. I just wondered what shot would be the most beneficial without KA-BOOM. And lastley it was a turbo 350z and it rocked my boat!!! I know what I'm doing at the wheel.
