I sold my '01 Lightning to buy my S. Bone stock in bad air I went 13.76. This was on my first ever run in the truck. Needless to say, it was pretty easy to drive in a straight line -- put it in D, floor it, and hang on. I will not know truly how fast the S2000 is until 500 more miles (no VTEC yet ), but I would say with a good driver the S2000 could keep up once moving. Off the line a Lightning would probably smoke an S2000 unless the driver really doesn't mind a high RPM clutch dump. The Lightning is also very cheap and easy to modify (mid 12's are EASY and common)!

Wow aren't they real smart reviewers!!! What other car under $40,000 is much faster than the drive-in-a-straight-line truck... They are fast, but they are trucks... DIFFERENT CLASSES... someone might try explaining this to the editor... and also... they had just a little bit of a bigger engine!!!... Some people!

Why would that surprise you? The F150 SVT is very fast, stupid, but fast. There is a guy with a 89 Dodge Cavavan that does a 12s 1/4 mile. See, it's not real hard to improve 1/4 mile times as the others have pointed out. More horsepower, less weight. Pretty simple equation. Now making something go fast around a race track is a bit more complex.
