See my previous post. Consider that my dealer got this from a dealer in Quebec.

Pat, I don't know how many will actually give you their own numbers, but that doesn't really matter. Each person's financial situation will be different from yours. From your numbers, you are looking at about a $24-25,000.00 bank loan which translates to about $500.00/mon. over 60 months (less per month if you can find a bank to go 72 months). If you have no other debts, your bank will probably approve this loan (also your job history will matter). If you do need a bank loan, the bank will insist on full insurance coverage and depending upon your driving record, this can vary. If the bank allows you a high deductable (say $2-2500.00) you may get away with low to high teen hundreds) to a high of several thousand $ ($5-6-7000.00) per year. Only your insurance agent knows for sure. Shop around for both loan and insurance. Good luck!

I would think hard about dumping your whole savings into the car. You never know what lies ahead. I put 11,000 down on my car, paid 48k using the Royal Bank Buy Back program, My payments are 680 month. If this was my only expense I would be the happiest guy in the world..But it's not. So That being said. I won't tell you how much I make, but it is a fair bit more then your number, and with my house, my accord, and a million other things, I don't bank a whole lot of money.
Make sure that this purchase won't tap you out, and you'll be just fine.

Yeah, Pat, I bought my 2001 from Hunt Club Honda this winter and there was never any question about the cost. It's stuck at $48K plus the usual stuff. I think the actual cost before taxes was $48,850. I traded in my Miata and that was where the horse-trading came in. In that process, Dow Honda made noises about giving me the S2000 at a bit under $48K, but I didn't stay with them to find out what the final figures would have been (for various reasons that might not apply to you: for one thng, I found the sales orientation not to my liking, a bit too slick and high pressure; a salesman actually, literally ran after me once as I was trying to get away from them!).

My car is a silver one; my plate is "ROADSRFR", so if you see it around town, try to catch my attention and we'll talk.

Hey Mindcore,

My original purchase was roughly the same way, except my $9000 CAD trade-in was the equivalent of $10,500 CAD in down-payment.

Might I ask what the TERM and RATE of your RBC deal is, and the amount they fixed the residual value at?

I am only familiar with their Buy-Back programme as of a few minutes ago when I first read your message and checked out their site. This still seems very much like a lease (a lot like HCFI's "Future Value Lease"?) -- are you intending to KEEP this car?

We can move this to a private thread if you'd like. I am very interested in comparing notes.
