Can anyone give me advice on the price to pay for a 2003 S2000 in the San Diego or SoCal area? Also which dealer? Dealers seem to be marking it up but I hear there are places selling below MSRP.

I got my Silverstone 2 weeks ago for $30.6k from Norm Reeves West Covina. The trick in my case was that they had 4 of the same car on the lot and were ready to deal. Keep searching for a dealer that's in a tight spot, then patiently explain why you think you should get it for invoice (time of year, 350Z & Z4 competition, others are getting invoice, etc.). Don't tell them you know they're desperate -- nobody likes being held over a barrel.

Another thing that helped me was that Silverstone/Black was actually my second color choice. Not forcing them to do a dealer trade gives them some more room to negotiate and it looks like you're giving something up too. Find a dealer w/ the color you want, then tell them you're looking for a different color (that they don't have). Then reluctantly tell them you'll take the color they have if you can get a great deal, like say invoice price.

At worst, you should end up a couple hundred over invoice.

I think I just happen to find a dealer that was more interested in moving volumes of Civics, Accords, etc. and wasn't real intereseted in getting top dollar for S2K's... I had to find a salesman who new what an S2000 was first off, and he said "Yeh, I think we have one in the back somewhere." it was burried in the back lot behind lock gates not cleaned or prepped.

I was surprised because all of the other Orange County lots I went to were sold out and indicated that as soon as new S2K's came in they sold for retail or more for cash.

I made a low ball - below invoice - offer on this Silverstone with the intent of having an excuse to walk away. I already have 3 vehicles; one being a '02 Jeep GC that I bought new just a few weeks ago. I really didn't need another vehicle, but I really was obsessed with the S2K. To my surprise and shock the GM came back to me with an offer $498 over mine. I was somewhat shocked, but had to at least keep them guessing and seeming not totally interested... I had to go discuss it and just bullshit with my buddy for about 1/2hr.

I CAN'T WAIT.... TO REV THAT S2K TO 9K AND SLINGSHOT THE F'CKER THROUGH THE TWISTIES. I've got 425 miles i need to put on it in the next couple days. Don't know if I'll be able to get rid of it. Don't know if i'll ever grow up!
