Thumbs up s2000 rear bumper alignment

Hi gang!

Problem: My rear bumper (where the left and right corners/sides meet at the seam) is a bit off in alignment. I've noticed this with other S2K's as well...but mine seems to be worse (off about 8-10mm on the right side). The car has never been hit either. The problem becomes more severe in very hot weather.

I've taken it to my dealership whom said the build quality was within Honda specifications. They did however take the bumper off and realign it with virtually no improvement. They have since told me there's nothing that can be done.

I'm not statisfied with their reponse to say the least. That being said, I've had nothing but great service from them (Carter Honda-Vancouver).

Question: Has anyone come across this problem before? Thought's on the matter?

Thx.

Rob.

maybe u should just add some washers or something to the nuts on one side of the bumper to even it out... im not exactly sure how the bumper works sinces ive never taken one off but if the alignment off this is sort of a "ghetto" way to fix it =)

Mine was the same way, It bothered me also. After attempting to move or shift it I gave up and used panel adhesive up on the inside as close to the seam as possible. just a dap, then duct tape the bumper to the quarter panel over night. It now nice and tight. I only had to do one side. I think the plastic flexs with heat and just needs more support. It will suck if I have to remove the bumper but I don't plan on that.

Mine's got the same problem. The bumper is out of line by about 5mm on the passenger side. Like yours, mine has never been hit. I can't believe Honda won't fix it for you, I'm going to ask them about mine today. Mines currently in the workshop getting a new gearbox and clutch fitted after only 13,500 miles! (and no I don't drive it like Schumacker!)

Interesting I just discovered the same problem, a week ago. Sht me off, so I got heavy with it!! and just pressed my thumbs along the join especially where the clips are and to my amazement I fixed it.....I pushed pretty hard as well. I think there is something like 4 screws and 6 push clips holding the whole thing in place.
Trich1687's solution sounds like a good one for me if it reappears.

I received a call from the Manager of Carter Honda.

He's indicated to me that Honda Canada is looking into the matter. He'll have an answer in about 2 weeks (people of vacation, etc).

I can tell you that after looking at various S2K's around town, there are a few of them with this same issue (assuming no accidnt, etc).

My problem becomes worse with the heat. Today (hot day), it's out a wacking 15mm. Unreal.
