S2000 rear end strength?
If I were to get an S2000, I would def. appreciate it's power, but I have always owned cars with no torque and no matter how much I wouldn't want to do it, eventually I would probably SC or Turbo the "meant to be NA" engine...
I have heard about diff. failures and such, so how does it hold up under high hp configurations? Like the comptech SC and the new Speedcraft turbo?
Also are the '02's coming with a stronger rear end? I know the tranny and clutch are improved...
I wouldn't want to be driving all happy-go-lucky and hear unwanted noises
Thanks, shea.

All rear-end failures I've heard about have come at the hands of clutch-drop drag-racing starts. If you simply street and track your car, I wouldn't think you'd have any problems.
At TWS Wes tracked his SC car for two days of DE (see post in Competition forum) and had no problems. Probably had around four hours total track time.

Yeah, I don't think there is anything intrinsically wrong with the S2000's rearend. However, grippy tires + 8000rpm + tall rear end gearing + side stepped clutch = huge stresses on the drivetrain.
Adding a supercharger or better yet, a turbo, will bring down the rpms you need to launch at considerably, and will subsequently reduce stress on your drivetrain, so it could actually last longer than stock.
I'm seriously considering either a stroker or a turbo (or if I'm totally crazy - both) when they become available from Bulletproof.

I have a comptech supercharger on my 2001S . First problem tranny is not letting me to go to 6th gear and alot of 1st to
2nd gear grind, clutch is also slipping . But it made a night and
day difference from stock!I just need to pick up a stronger
clutch and be more easy on the tranny.

I thought the same thing when I first got the car. Now, I think I'm starting to see the thinking behind the drivetrain design. While not optimized for launching, it does allow for a downshft into 1st on very sharp turns at low speeds. This allows for good acceleration out of the turn (ie. quick return to VTEC), rather a slow pull thru 2nd. Of course, you probably don't want to do this until your gearbox is broken in.
