Yes, it's my mistake it was 3403 not 3404! Sorry for that!

The process could be automated with an online form which dumps directly to a spreadsheet. It requires someone willing to use their Google account to do it. I did a proof of concept awhile back and it works.

I'm this close to offering to just do it outright but I'm not looking to step on anyone's toes, plus I am plenty busy with other stuff that I'm not sure I want to take this on full-time.

RM, it might be worth presenting this to the S2KI moderators, especially if it's pretty self explanatory as far as entering information. Right now there are easily six months of entries to log in manually, afterward I suppose individuals could then enter their own information.

I already suggested it to the person currently in charge of the registry and openly posted the proof of concept in a thread in Vintage.

I am pretty sure it has been more than 6 months since anything was updated. I think it's more like 1.5 years now.

If it were me, which it isn't.....
If I were to pick up the project I would do the Google form immediately and get that functioning. I would then tell everyone to see if their data had been entered. If not, then they should please add it. As time permitted, I would add data from back entries as well AND solicit volunteers to add data as they come across missing entries as well.

I do not understand why it has to be all done by one person and not make use of tools and automation readily available for free on the Internet. One person could check it every so often to make sure the data is free of corruption, but it's silly to think one person must be saddled with the duties of data entry clerk for something like this. That approach would burn out anyone.

I know you realize this already, vp. I'm just stating it openly so if someone wants to step up, they can.

It's the same old tired story. Everybody wants this or that (and some even whine and b!tch when a volunteer doesn't have time), but when it comes time to step up, very few ever want to actually do anything of action.

Thanks Roseanne, I'll look for the thread with the document example within it. I might be interested in it for just the CR Registry.

I found the thread with the example. I think I'll pursue this idea with the CR forum members.

Very cool. I really do hope it is helpful.

Just think, if it works with a smaller subset of the cars, you could then expand and do the whole registry.
