^cmiller I knew you meant Silverstone, that's how I entered it.

Major update yesterday - the total is now 2,179 entries, which is up by 115 since PAB passed on the Registry to me two months ago.

Most of the increase is due to incorporating the CR Registry. Because CRs are so limited, I included all known wreck/salvage CRs in their list, since either a) they are gone entirely, and therefore "permanently accounted for", or else b) if they're still available (i.e. repaired), interested parties might want to know ahead of time. However, I did omit some entries in the CR Registry, because it includes vehicles that have simply been spotted as being for sale somwehere; since there's no associated owner or other status, this didn't strike me as being "accounted for".

All of which brings me to a question for you all, as participants/enthusiasts: as you might be aware, in the course of one of my other little S2000 projects I've collected 1600+ known wreck/salvage S2000 VINs (growing daily ). Nearly all of these cars were damaged within the past 3 years -- yes, that's over 500/year, more than 1 a day!

Anyway, since the Registry already has a precedent of indicating "totaled", "stolen", etc. in certain entries, I thought it might be of interest to add the known wrecks from my research -- and perhaps even solicit more entries from the community. So I envisioned possibly adding that list onto a *separate* tab of the Registry spreadsheet: basically just a column for each Model Year and a list of the VIN serials, with no other details.

Let me know what you think.

P.S. As always, you can peruse the Registry here, and download a copy if you wish:

Latest update: If you're an MY04 owner you might notice your car suddenly seems to be "missing" from the Registry. Not to worry! I just re-ordered the MY04 entries to distinguish between cars built in Tochigi (produced from ~7/'03 thru 4/'04) and Suzuka (5/'04 thru 7/'04), wherever that was possible.

As you might be aware, Honda re-started the MY04 VINs after the changeover to the Suzuka facility in May '04. So for each MY04 VIN (serial number) up to #1449, in general there were actually *two* cars made: one in Tochigi early in the model year, and one in Suzuka at the end of the model year.

Now, for these lower VINs, if you know the paint and interior colors, you can usually tell which factory the car came from by using Honda's online VIN lookup tool. For example, MY04 VIN #0050 from Tochigi was Silverstone/Black, while VIN #0050 from Suzuka was GPW/Tan. Sometimes the only difference is the interior: VIN #0875 from Tochigi is Silverstone/Black, while VIN #0875 from Suzuka is Silverstone/Red-Black. So I checked the few dozen MY04 cars in the Registry with VINs lower than 1450, and indicated in the Notes column whether it was from Tochigi or Suzuka. Then I added an "S" to the VINs of the ones from Suzuka, and moved them to the end of the list of 2004 cars, reflecting their true production order. So if you have a low-VIN MY04 and your entry seems to be missing, just scroll down towards the end of the list of MY04 cars.

But here's the kicker: there are a few hundred cases where both cars were the same configuration! The first such example is VIN #0119 (two Sebring Silver/Black cars), and the last is VIN #1442 (two Silverstone/Black cars). When I ran into those cases in the Registry, I left them where they were (i.e. as if they were made in Tochigi), but I added "Could be either S or T" to the Notes column. If you're the owner of one of those cars, I'd love to hear from you as to which factory your car was built in! (Just check for an "S" or a "T" in the VIN.)

I know -- why go to the trouble? Well, I already had most of the data (from other S2000 research I've done), and I just thought it would be nice for the Registry to reflect this quirk of S2000 production. I think it also emphasizes the uniqueness of each S2000 made. (Even those few hundred that *aren't* unique are actually special for that very reason!) Don't like it? You're free to change it back when YOU take over the Registry!
